My grail would be a white gold Sub C with black dial and bezel, could I make my own!

Hi All

So I'd really love a white gold version of my SubC 116610LN. Since Rolex are unlikely to make one what would stop me buying a 116619LB and replacing the dial and bezel with those from my black SubC. I guess I'd also want the PCL's brushed too.

I'd love this configuration, I know that it would look identical to SS but that suits me down to the ground, I'd know and enjoy it and thats all that counts

Presumably it would be a simple mod to correct at any time. So apart from Rolex maybe not servicing it are there any issues or complications I should be aware of?!

Being that the only difference would be the weight as you would change the look to exactly match the LN--the only complication would be price. You would be sporting what would look like a SS model but with the feel of a Gold one. My advice would be to save your money and enjoy your LN. Me--I love my WG Sub--love the blue dial and bezel--love the look of the PCL and also love the weight. If money is not an issue--go try one on--and see if you can't come to appreciate it the way I do and all the others who own one do!!!

If it's what you want and you can afford it, go for it.

If it makes you happy, I'm all for it though.

But gold belongs on a dress watch IMO, not on a diver's watch.

Damn Steeler, one of these days you need to post pictures of the entire family. Seems like you have one example of every reference ever made!

I have already and I love the feel. I also quite like the blue dial and bezel too but would ultimately prefer the very stealthy approach of black.

So it seems that there is no 'technical' reason why I can't, just a matter of whether I want to or not.... I do wonder how easily the ceramic bezel is removed and replaced given that it appears to be quite brittle, wouldn't want it to break!

I guess to each his own. I am a keep it real kind of guy-not into Frankenwatches. Whatever tickles your fancy mate--go for it. That is what is great about the watch world--taste is subjective to our own personal preferences and with money you can take care of that taste!!! Cheers!

If you already have a blue Sub-C, then I'd suggest to go slow, step-by-step. First, order a black ceramic bezel, and have it replaced in a Rolex service center. I wouldn't try to mess with it myself. Maybe the bezel change alone would tone it down that you wouldn't want to go further. Then there's the bracelet brushing, which is a fairly easy and inexpensive job. If after those modifications you still want to replace the dial, then go for it. I'm sure either way you'll end up with a very special watch
