Anyone else's bracelet 'squeak' on their new Sub-C?
Hey guys, as I have posted yesterday I just got a brand new Rolex Sub-c black in SS. Having an issue with the bracelet squeaking when I take the watch off and if I shake my wrist. Any ideas on this matter? I was told to wash with soap and water but it can't be dirty because it is brand new!
Also, when I pull the crown out to stop the second hand right at 12 (to set the exact time), I noticed when I initially turn the crown to set the time, the second hand 'shifts' a bit, not much but maybe moves the length of a second...Then it goes back to normal when I finish setting the time. Any ideas here? Is this normal? As always any input is greatly appreciated. |

My GMTIIc squeaked for a few weeks but went away. Not sure about the seconds hand but my minute hand has a little play.

Okay good I hope it goes away. Yeah my minute hand has a bit of play feel with turning the crown before it actually 'grabs' and moves.- Does that make sense?

1. My Daytona and my GV had squeeks the first time I took it out.
2. The only Rolex I've had experience with that doesn't have "play" is the Daytona.

You'll get a feel for it the mor time u spend with it. If you adjust the minute hand clockwise then move it counter then back to clockwise you'll notice that it has to catch if that makes any sense

... It's a mechanical watch...... There is all kinds of play (or lash) built into it so that it will function in all positions at all temperatures....
So, yes... It is normal for the seconds hand to move..........

We know it's not dirty but trust us: wash it and the squeaking will stop.

Trust!! I wish i did it right away but i couldn't wash it since it was still pristine. and like i said I wish i did. That squeeking is metal grinding metal it needs some lubrication and the soap should do it.

Ok with years of wearing the in contact moving parts will wear but come on its not as if a small amount of bracelet squeak is the watch wearing away before his eyes! OP mine squeaked from new and still does slighty just enjoy wearing it, it will go in time. a weekly wash won't hurt. Sam |

Once the oils from your wrist/body work through the steel bracelet, the noise will dissapear.

Sometimes when you have links removed and too much loc tite was used it can cause the links to bind and sometimes squeak.

Mine has been on my wrist for 6+ weeks and still squeaks a little bit at 12:00. It is not a big deal. I notice the squeaking goes away after showering with the watch.

Congratulations on the new watch, FYI you are better off if you stop worrying about little things about your watch now, I have seen too many new owners ruin their experience obsessing about squeaking bracelets, imperfect lume, dates that change at 12:01, rotor noise etc. You should follow Mcubed's easy steps to enjoying your new Rolex
1) in morning, place watch on wrist 2) when you need to know what time it is, consult watch 3) in evening, before bed, remove watch from wrist 4) wear it as much as humanly possible, avoid anything that involves shaking it next to your ear, observing it under magnification, or hunting down squeaks 5) ALWAYS ALWAYS remember: "The safest place for your Rolex is on your wrist"

Just noticed that mine also squeaks at the 12 O'Clock lug. I feel like it squeaks less when I don't wear it in the shower in the morning. I would think it would make sense that the squeaking is from a lack of oils in the pin that holds the SEL to the first link. I don't notice it often but I'm kinda surprised my Rolex squeaks and squeals. Eh I hope it goes away but if it doesn't I have had worse problems. At least nice to know I am not alone.

New Explorer 1 39MM. Yes, same experience. A couple of YouTube Rolex reviews mention the same thing. Very minor annoyance, but as others have posted, I suspect it will wear away. I for one am very happy for the upgrade of the band over the the 36MM Explorer 1, so i am not complaining!

Mine squeaked too, but there was a small mouse caught in the glidelock.
