I was happily wasting time looking at watches on the interwebs the other day and came across this beauty and almost fell out of my chair:

Now what I'm wondering is this, were all 1675 GMTs regardless of whether they were stainless, two-tone or 18K considered 1675s? And if so, how rare are the 18K root beer examples? I realize this one is particularly rare on account of the dauphin hands but in general, are 18K root beer (or mocha) GMTs impossible to find?

What would one in this condition likely sell for? Can anyone offer suggestions on where one would even look for such a piece?

And finally, were any of the transitionals before the 16718 came along made in 18K?

I just can't get over how beautiful that watch is. I didn't even think I liked gold watches until I saw this.

Gorgeous watch! this is one of the earliest GMT's without the crown guard with dauphin and small 24hr hands. It might even be a pre-1675, the 6542.
It is a "milk chocolate" dial not a root beer ;). They root beer dial comes later (mid/late 70's) and has a caramel/root beer colors to it.

I agree totally. Gold watches are just too much bling for me. This one is unreal.

I have one chocolate and one rootbeer. I get prices all over the board as to value. they both have 1/2 gold jubilee braclets. I have never seen any one wearing either one of these models.

WOW, I would agree with 6542 "chocolate"- in solid 18K I would expect a handsome price in that good of condition.

I would look to Steve M. or post a WTB on VRF.

Thanks everyone. It looks like these are going to be around 10K+ for one in pristine condition. So that will safely make it a grail piece for me! But one day...

Last time I saw one here in Chicago it was in perfect to mint condition with box and papers and they were asking $16K. It was a highly immaculate piece.

It's those dam dauphine hands, they are mesmerizing. I love the early Thunderbirds for the same reason
