Who likes military watches?

WWII-era CYMA pilot's watch.

I have a couple right now, my Rolex British military backup pocket watch, circa 1940, and my Soviet dive watch from the mid-60's.

I consider all Rolex Sport models and SS Datejust to be Military Watches. Seen many many service members wearing them over the years and putting them through their paces.

Most Popular with the US Military:

SS Sub Date
GMT II
Exp II
Exp 1
SS Datejust

Subfiend, That is a great looking CYMA!

There was (maybe still is) a US Army issue wristwatch. It required daily winding. I was not impressed with it, as it seemed like a cheapie. I'm not sure who made if for the Army. This would have been circa 1976-1985.

I do consider my Submariner Date to be an ideal military-type watch.

This is what I was issued during my service in the Air Force 821st Combat Security Police Squadron, just before deployment to Vietnam in 1969. It was a Benrus, and was manual wind. It was OK, kept good time and had great lume! I have no idea what ever became of it.

Prince,

That looks just like the Army issue one. I'm surprised the Air Force used watches at all. Didn't you guys just used to lounge around the canteen all day long?

There have been many US Army "official suppliers" over the ages. The one's I like the most are the Hamilton field watch types. Quartz, and some manual wind with no date feature, are pretty hardy and have great lume.

Then there's the Luminox and Traser types that mimic the US Army supplier Stocker & Yale. You'll notice these are all large "survival" types with big bezels and plastic resin case coverings. Not my favorites but Military spec just the same.

Yes, but we had to know when it was time to order another round!
