I need urgent advice.
First: Merry Christmas to you all
I am in doubt to trade in my beloved GMT2C TT with cash(1500 euro) on a DayDate BARK YG with a roman golden dial from 1990. It is complete with box, papers etc. from first owner and was 90% of the time in the safe for 20 years. It is a mint watch. Please give me some pros and cons please

Sure......Why not? you can get another TT GMT IIc anytime, but something like that in mint condition might be a little harder to obtain.
I could be wrong, but it seems like it would be a decent financial move

That seems like a good deal to me. With the price of gold going the way it is a DD won't be any less expensive later. They are expensive and have always been so. However if you truly love the GMT IIC then think it over hard before you commit.

Although not a fan of gold watches the bark style is quite unique and hard to find in mint condition if it smiles at you then get it.

I would never hesitate to trade a current production model (that would be easy to replace quickly at anytime in the future) for something more rare. Do it!

I like the gmt better, but it sounds like a pretty good deal to me, especially if the watch is in great shape.

day date , top of the line Rolex dress watch, distinguished mens watch.
TT GMT2C , new improved larger case and bracelet , more easier to read , can be worn as dress watch or as sporty watch, not as distinguished as day date. which one will fit your life style better? |

As I am getting older(47years in feb-2011) I want to settle down from a "watch" point of view. I think the DD is perfect watch for my age (...and older) Also the measure 36 mm is okay. But my brother in law, wife and son keep saying "do not do it". Guido says, Dad you have a brand new GMT why change again?? And maybe in the near future the extra cost of 500 euro for service at Rolex due the DD age. I really doubt................

I don't like the look of the "bark", but value wise, it seems like a good deal. Do it only if you like the DD.

Not a fan of gold models but I'd prefer the GMT if given the choice between the two.

Look deep within yourself, you will find the answer there.
The GMT TT will continue to rise in price proportionatly with the price of gold. I would keep it and pass it down, and only sell it if you need the money.

sounds like you are more than 50/50 on doing it, so go for it. no need to ask for opinions of others unless you're going to share the watch with us.
