Daytona on New Years
I love the Daytonas ....I really have wanted one for the past 6 months...today I walked into my AD and was just browsing...and of course he noticed me just browsing and chatted me up...and we began discussing the Daytona...of course it being New Years eve day..."his year end" (sure) he said he could offer me a deal today only....he gave me a price on my choice of a white or black faced V-serial Daytona. both in stock which he showed me..his price was quite discounted...his discount to me was 17% out the door...taxes in....but today only...I was not in the mind set to buy, for a few reasons...not sure of which face I want...and do I really need another Rolex to my collection of watches which a few do not see any wrist time as is...
Of course when I mentioned this to him, he said that it was a today only offer, and that if I came in next week that he could not offer the same discount, this of course rubbed me the wrong way, as I don't like pressure sales.... A few questions, on the SS Daytonas are the standard white and black dials the ones available, can one get the Panda face dials ordered? I currently have a Sub ND...black dial GMT IIC--black dial Datejust II TT-black dial I seem to like the black dials...maybe the white dial would be a nice mix...but not sure...why did you choose one over the other for your own preference...and again can you order the Panda dial or other dial with the SS models... THanks and Happy New Year to all |

White dials always look clean, even in sports watches. I agree with you the white dial will be a good mix. Ultimately though, get the one that sings to you. Good luck!

Go for it, sounds like a very good deal. Maybe he is trying to hit a year-end sales bonus or quota... henceforth the deadline.

The SS Daytona (116520) comes in either white or black dials only. I have owned both and ended up with the white because it's easier to read and different from all my black dial sport models.

Sounds like a good deal. I have a SS GMT IIc, and went with the white dial SS Daytona so I would have a different dial color between my 2 watches.

Black and white are the only dials available on the stainless steel. I've owned both and only hung on to the white. Some guys have bought Panda dials aftermarket and fitted them.

17% is a great deal! Go for it! Though I've had both, but I prefer the white dial. Its beautiful & its different from the rest of my pieces.
Good Luck! |

I was offered a 10% off in Toronto but only because i mentioned i knew someone who worked at the AD, and even then they would have to get approval. Can you say where?

I personally chose the black dial as it as always stood out to me much more than white dials.
I'd say the deal you were offered is very good, I know I personally would have jumped at that offer but sadly my AD isn't quite as generous as yours |

I'm more impressed with the tax-in aspect. I live in a 9.75% area.
