Zenith Striking 10th

Happy new year everyone
Haven't posted here much due to work last year, but thought I'd share with you guys how the holidays rewarded me with this lovely limited edition Striking 10th. It is my 3rd El Primero, and I just keep coming back to these for the fantastic engineering and finish. Sorry for the poor iPhone pics!

This one appealed to me the first time I saw a photo of it. There was also a nice review in a recent issue of Watch Time. Congrats on a great watch.

Take a close look at the bezel and you'll see that the chrono feature is set up to measure true 1/10th seconds. I think this watch is a terrific utilization of the outstanding El Primero movement. I'd love to see them do a black dial/white subdial version also.

Picked it up at Watches of Switzerland - great service as usual as I have a good relationship there. Will be getting the rubber and steel bracelets to accompany the gator strap.

Thanks guys, really happy with it as it's a much fresher/modern take compared to the old Zeniths. I'll try and take a photo tomorrow of the movement that is just that little extra special.

It is a remarkable movement, and to see the hacking seconds hand fly around the dial is just superb.

A nice video on their website:

Fantastic watch! I had the chance to handle one up close and personal over the holidays. (Very few AD's here in the states.) I really love the detail and craftsmanship. Hopefully I will join the Zenith family in the near future.

And you will I think Zenith are really underappreciated, and they do have terrific attention to detail. It is a remarkable effort that goes into each of their movements.

Have been enjoying more wrist time this week as it fits under the shirt a bit better than the SD!

I thought the crew would enjoy a look at the Striking 10th next to its historical inspiration, the ref. A 386 - one of the first series of El Primero references produced by Zenith in 1969. That three-color-subdial bit has historical roots. The original is a traditional chronograph, and one of my two favorite vintage Primeros. 42mm vs 38mm in case you are wondering.
