After market dial on 16760.....

So I have a client who is a new Navy Pilot and had me make him an after market blue dial with the gold tone Navy Pilot wings. Personally I think this color blue should be a standard option from Rolex. It's very attractive. The wings sort of look like Breitling logo at first glance but my client was ecstatic to have this on his watch.

What do you guys think?

Sacrilegious?

Sorry, it's not for me. Obviously you are talented at making dials though!

Anything even remotely related to Breitling makes me nauseous... Except John Travolta, he's cool!

Not a big Aftermarket kind of guy....but great work nonetheless.

Nice work - the overall effect might be better with an all-blue bezel?

However, it's not for me. I have a 16760 from 1987 and I prefer it in its original form.

Looks great. I prefer black but like the customized dial. When you say you "made" the dial, did you refinish it or build it?

We refinished his original dial. The artwork was done by computer from a scan.

A bad move IMHO, do you guys know that 16760 is a fairly rare GMT master 2 that has the nickname of "Fat Lady"...

All original ones seem to fetch a higher price than "regular" GMT master 2's.

I tried to talk them out of it but this is what they want. All I can do is offer up the facts and my opinions to the customer, past that it's up to them.

It was his watch to ruin.

Yup!

But I would have gotten a spare dial...

You do nice work and your client is happy, that is what matters most.

Myself, what a shame he did it to that dial!

I would have bought another dial to modify.
