Box ref. number & watch model?
This topic may have been discussed in the past, but is there a relationship between the reference number on the bottom of the green box to the model that is carried inside?

No, not really..
The boxes are usually small, medium, and large for the Stainless, Two Tone, and Gold models respectively.. The numbers on the boxes are vendor stock numbers and vary quite a bit..

Over in the Reference Library we have a Box Reference Number Research thread..
If you go over that thread and other box research, it becomes pretty clear that there is no specific box for a specific model, only generalities and the liklihood that a watch type may have a certain size. The wooden boxes don't seem to be an exception. They just seem to be what Rolex designers and vendors used during certain eras. You can see that an 80's watch would likely have the cardboard c-clip box, late 80's early 90's the wooden box and pillows, late 90's early 2000's the green leatherette box and cream insides, and the latest wave-style green and cream insides.... and so forth.. Not much else can really be nailed down......
