Man... I'm torn - GMT YG Black or Green Dial
I'm really torn. And I know this is all a personal decision but for some reason I like to hear yours. I have the classic GMT IIc SS... and LOVE it. But I want to get something new and want to stay in the GMT line. I know the Daytona is drop dead gorgeous in YG but I just don't want a Daytona just yet. And I don't like the TT GMT.
So I'm thinking of getting either a black dial or green dial GMT IIc. I like both - and think the black dial is very striking - but the green dial has been growing on me for months now. I hated it when I first saw it but for some reason I'm starting to like it. The one thing that scares me is that I see some nicer YG watches lose their values quickly and the ones with diamonds - man they drop like mad on the secondary market. But the GMT seems to hold fairly solid. Looking to buy a used one - assuming I'll be in the $18k range. What do you guys think? This is a watch that I plan to wear for a long time - pretty much my daily - and I want something that is classic yet a little unique. Thanks all! _steve |

Great choice either way...
I am also in the market for an all gold Rolex.
With the GMT I definitely prefer the black dial. It's sporty, classy, elegant and more versatile than the green. Like you, I hated the green dial when it was first released but can now say it is quite nice! Black dial for me... Can't go wrong. Great watch!! |

Of course, color is so personal. But, I really liked the green dial until I was able to slip one on and that was the end of the love affair! So, it's black for me. And, I never thought I'd like jewels on a watch until I tried this one on!

I vote for the black dial hands down. To add some spice get a OEM green date wheel and I think you will have one awesome piece! My 2c.

So personal--whichever one sings to you!! Doesn't matter what we think! I like the green as it is different though.

This was hard for me also >
I figure in the long run the green face will be worth more, but I wanted to wear it also and the green did not go with a lot of my outfits. The contrast the black has with the yellow gold differs from the green.
My 2 cents worth, however it is your investment and no one better than yourself to choose what works for you.

You might want to try the "search" function as this was just a topic in a recent post. I'll help you out.. http://rolexforums.com/showthread.ph...ght=Green+dial As to which to choose, as I said in the other post, if it's your only watch the green might be a little restrictive in matching what you wear if it matters to you I which case the black dial might be a better choice. If you have other watches, then the green is stunning in my opinion. Good luck.

I'm not huge on the green normally but in YG it looks that much more exclusive to me. I'd go green baby!

IMO the green dial is the 50th Anniversary GMT but I prefer the black dial.

Black for me also...more versatile than the green...and incredibly elegant. With an all gold rolex I would want the rest of it to remain subtle and classy...The green is pushing it a bit for me. It's still stunning..but the black would definitely be my choice.

I have owned my Gold/Stainless GMT 11 with the Black dial for almost three years. I did look at the Green though they were very scarce at that time. The dealer also told me the Black dial in Gold/Stainless will hold its value actually longer then the all gold. I am pleased with the Black dial as it can be worn with anything in my wardrobe.

I tried both and loved both. Is the dial the same from the ss. Maybe it would be smart to get green and find a black dial.

The green dial is awesome. But $ 18000 is not too much for a used one? I ask because i have seen in another forum (italian) a new one for $ 19000 (14000 euro)

Green all the way.
My AD offered me a hell of a deal on either a black or green face - but my semi-retirement resources would not allow the purchase. The thing I love most about the green option and something which I think many overlook is the fact that you get a GOLD GMT hand not a green hand which matches the hand set on the watch and looks so classic and perfect IMO....no never mind about matching your wardrobe...this is a most special Rolex GMT....and cost-wise I have seen them for sale for $16,500 LNIB so take your time in buying... |

Black dial would be my choice. It's more correct, IMO.

Good choice, especially since it's an Anniversary edition.

I've seen both of them - there will always be those that will refer to what is correct and proper - a ss/18k blue sub is the farthest thing from proper but I had one and loved it.
The black-on-black is great and proper - I love it. The green dial kicks *ss and I would probably go for it. Purchase what your heart tells you too - you will be proud every second you wear it. Purchase the "proper" one and you may very well be looking for something else in a short amount of time.
