UK Rolex service turnaround - 25 weeks?

I was earwigging in my local AD at lunchtime and a chap had brought in a Rolex to be sent away for service.

He was quoted 25 weeks for turnaround:

4 weeks to get a letter back quoting for an repairs
1 week allowed to accept quote
20 weeks turnaround from there to get his watch back from Rolex

Really glad mine (hopefully) won't need a sevice for a few years yet!

25 weeks is a bit of an overestimate to be honest. Services are beginning to come back a bit quicker now, 12-14 weeks from proceed as a general rule. It's never been as bad as 25 weeks, at least not in my experience

But you must remember it takes 12 months to make a Rolex oyster so Rolex used to state. So perhaps a quote of 25 weeks to service one is bordering on the ridicules too. Much like there quote it takes 12 months to make a Rolex oyster.

Your spot on....

I got quoted the exact same figures directly off the Kings Hill Service Lady.....

It does depend on the calibre of movement - but its 20x weeks 'worst case' for service which starts when you approve the quotation - of which I was quoted a 5 week delay in getting these out....

I suppose you have to bear in mind they will quote 'worst case figures' but that is whats being 'quoted.'

I had the same quote last week. 25 week turnaround looks about right even though it's ridiculous.

That will make people buy a second watch to cover that period. Clever. Totally unacceptable but clever. I remember with sheer horror the last time I had to wait to 2 months to get mine back when I did not have another Rolex (just an Omega) to wear during that time. Now I can be more relaxed.....

Just done a few calculations. I'm assuming Rolex make around 1,000000 watches a year now. Working five days a week and allowing them xmas day and new years day off. Working 12 hours a day, they would make 161 watches per hour. That's 2.7 per minute or one watch every 22.2 seconds.
So 25 weeks for a service of one watch does sound a fair bit off par.

Greetings to all. Would UK Rolex owners get shorter turn around time if they use RSC in France, Ireland, or Holland? Would appreciate your advice. Best regards.

They tell you 25 weeks so you buy another Rolex (because you can't bear to be without one for that long) then yours comes back fully serviced in 12 weeks so you think it was quick. Yes, all very clever...

6 months near enough to the day for my 1680 i picked up the other day

left in august came back last wk

less the 2/3 wks shutdown for christmas / new yr so still circa 20/21 wks
from start to finish .

but as my friend has said the mother ship of bexley is imho the best
and a must for your special pieces as they are one of the very few rsc that will still service vintage these days .

it is worth the wait as the job they do is spot on and the finish is impeccable
just my 2 cents worth

Last year, I was told it would take RSC 16 weeks to service my Sub. Totally unacceptable IMO. So I took it to my local AD, where their in house watchmaker serviced, re-calibrated, re-sealed, and polished it to perfection. In three weeks. All for £300. I know where I'll be going next time.

That's what I would do too!

They're sent in protective shipping boxes, with a two year service warranty card
