Datejust 16014
Hi all,
Recently acquired this piece for a good deal, but even as a non expert in Rolexes I think it's not all there... From what I understand 16014 is not a two tone, so the bezel and bracelet seem replaced. What else is really bothering me is the glass, seems a bit thick, thicker than another Datejust I have, and if you look closely from the side, there is some kind of "line" in the middle of it, is it a wrong crystal or just improperly installed one? The other thing is the hands, don't look right to me! Any advise and info from you experts would be really appreciated. Thanks much in advance |

Good looking watch. I have the same one, sans diamonds.

You are correct that the watch is likely a conversion..
The bracelet is a fake and has been added.. I believe that this watch should have a WG bezel. It is possible that the watch was "reconditioned" and the gold crown and bezel were added, as well as the aftermarket diamond dial; then an aftermarket TT bracelet was installed......

Thanks for the info, any thoughts about the crystal and hands? For the future, how may I tell if the bracelet is after market or not. Does the clasp seem after market? The guy I got it from did say it was "reconditioned", thatever that means.
Let me ask you, if I send it for service to Rolex, would they be able to replace the hands for me with original ones, or they wouldnt do it since it's an after market dial? Last edited by zippoguy; 27 February 2011 at 06:21 AM.. Reason: added info |
