Engraved
I've noticed through photos posted here that some of Subs and GMT's have "Rolex" engraved on the inside of the bezel under the crystal. Were there only certain models that came out that way? I think they look great.

All Rolexes, not just Subs and GMTs now have the "RolexRolexRolex'' engraving on the rehaut. The engraving goes around the rehaut and includes a crown at the 12 o'clock position and the watch's serial number at 6 o'clock.
I believe Rolex started this maybe 4-5 years ago. |

Thanks Sing. So the new Sub that my wife bought me from the AD this past Xmas is really a watch that's at least 4 years old? It doesn't have the engraving.

Solid gold models got them in about 2005/06. Some folks still scour the Dealers looking for a Sub without the engraved rehaut as it's the last of the original look models and there are still some out there........

I've never seen it in person but I've read threads about people swearing theirs didn't have it (because they couldn't see it with their naked eye) and finally when looking under a loop / magnifying glass, they realized it was there all along.
Not sure if that applies to you, but just a heads up. I think it looks great with the engraving. Wish mine had it. |

As someone else mentioned, what's more important is the date stamped on the warranty card since this actually determines the age of the watch. |

Possible, but still considered NEW to the date you purchased it.
Rolex manufacturing isn't same as actual time of sale.

BTW, the ROLEXROLEX engraving should be seen as a detail against fraud, ie fakes. Personally I don't like the engraving, looks much nicer without it.
