Rolex 16800 Picture - Observations please!
9 Serial
16800 I just purchased another 16800 at my store here in Dallas and would love any observations/feedback. I know it needs a service because of the gunk around the crown (I think the guy wore it with the crown open ) |

So what do you want to know? It's nice.......it would be better if it had a matte dial. Hopefully you didn't over pay for it. Did you see the movement? It might be a mess inside with the way that crown looks. Congrats......hope it works out well for you at the service.

I did open it up and the movement is clean. I would just like to know if the dial looks factory.

The dial looks fine.. the 16800 came in both the early matte/painted dial and the later WG surrround dial such as this... The pearl and insert look good. Shine some light on it and take it in a dark room to see if the hands are still trituim or have been changed out.....
It's more important that the lugs are not messed with and overly thinned or the case sides polished and that the original dimensions are not skewed....... It's only one photo, but it looks nice.. A good clean original dimension 16800 is on my list to get one of these days so I could do an in depth review for the Forum........

The dial looks like the original. And is correct as others have stated for that year of production. The classic sub.
