Rolex band for Tudor Sub 79090?

I have an early '90s vintage Tudor sub 79090 that I would like to put a real Rolex oyster band on instead of the Tudor 78500 it currently has.

I tried to get Rolex Toronto to sell me one yesterday when I sent the watch in for service but they refused -- said they couldn't do it because the watch wasn't made originally that way. I explained that it didn't ship originally with the 78500 band either... came with folded links... but they were immovable.(Rolex New York gave me the same story in 2007).

Based on my reading on TRF, it looks like either the Rolex 93150 (sub) or the 78360 (GMT) bands might fit.

Does anyone know which ones fit for sure?

Anyone have experience fitting the Tudor 380B end links to one of these bands?

Anyone know if a AD will sell me one of these (vs Rolex service center), or whether I need to go thru the gray market?

The 78500 (currently on my watch) is a Tudor branded band... I would like a Rolex branded one, hence my question.

The Rolex Sub bracelet will fit. I bought a new Tudor 79050 sub in 1984 and bought the Rolex bracelet for it. Back then a new bracelet was $175. Those were the days

Even more so, I'm afraid.

Got it... so I'll need to source through a non-AD/RSC channel.

Anybody know of a good seller on TRF to ping about this?

DON'T DO IT! It will only cost you money.

The only difference between the 78500 and a 93150 is the ref number stamped on one of the links and the Tudor shield on the claps. Everything else is identical. Funnily enough the replacement cost of a 93150 is ca twice the cost of a 78500. So the only visible difference is the logo on the clasp.

As long as you have 380Bs, or 580Bs, any Rolex or Tudor folded or heavy Oyster bracelet will fit fine; 7836 (both T and R), 78360 (R), 78400 (T), 93150 (R), 78500 (T).

BTW Tudor 78400 is the same as Rolex 78360 (only the ref no and logo differs).

Best,

A

I forgot to say:

* The 79090 is a wonderful watch. I wear mine on original folded, or a heavy Oyster, or occasionally a grey Nato. I have a black dial/bezel inlay version.

* Enjoy this great forum!

* Post some pics of your Tudor!

Best,

A
