is $8k enough $$$ for my Daytona?

I got a dealer that wants to give me $8k for my F series 116520 Daytona (white face)... Watch is ex excellent condition, box, no papers tho.
Is this enough or no?

That's a good price from a dealer given that your watch lacks papers. I wouldn't give you $8K for it! :-)

I agree with Patrick. 8k without papers? Sell!

I recently went through the same attempting to sell my white-faced M serial Daytona w/o box & papers (save for Tourneau receipt and appraisal). Dealers wouldn't give more than $8k and I wasn't getting any other offers, so yea, I think its fine to sell for that.

Just cannot see for the life of me why the papers are so important they are now just a out of date warranty paper. The most important bit surely is a genuine watch to anyone.Well I would give him $8K for it you can keep your out of date bit of paper and package box.I would send the watch for service if I thought it necessary, then acquired Rolex service papers with a valid 2 year warranty IMHO thats more important than any expired bit of paper.

I think that is a good price. You might be able to get 8500 selling it here but I doubt it. I suspect privately you would be very close to the 8K-8.5K

I think that's a good deal seeing as your selling to a dealer. Do it! What are you thinking of getting instead?

Excellent offer by a dealer.
On TRF, without papers, they go for less.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but the vast majority of of buyers, especially collectors, much prefer a watch that is complete with original box/papers/tags, etc.

Daytona's still hold a premium resale value IMHO, more so then most other models. With a quick polish and some rudimentary sales-tactics s/he will turn a tidy profit. People want daytona's

1000% agree, complete sets are important to some, but IMHO needlessly, once the warranty is up all I want to know is if the watch works, and will someone stand behind it if it turns out to be stolen.

Interesting post... I am looking to buy a black face Daytona F series with no box and papers and the general feeling was to offer around $7,500. I guess with you being on the selling side, $8K is pretty good - especially from a dealer.

I am starting to realize that box and papers are only important when selling and not when buying!

Thanks all... I'm probably going to grab a DSSD. I went to the AD Sunday to look at the new Sub-c and DSSD. I didn't think the new sub was worth the extra money compared to my current Z Sub. They are bringing in a DSSD from another store to show me. It was supposed to be today, but I didn't get the call yet.

I'd buy a DSSD here or another major site from a trusted person. Don't pay even close to MSRP on that one.

Seems to be a good deal from an AD. Definitely sell it.

DSSD's go for quite a bit less than msrp. The AD needs to discount the DSSD AND give you 8K or it is not a good deal at all

Not trAding in my Daytona, selling it to a seller, then buying a DSSD... I won't pay full retail for it.

As others have said $8000 is good enough to do the quick sale.

If the dealer would take a trade at $8000 against your purchase, you'd get an extra $640 in implied value (8% benefit since the sales tax would only be on the net cash you'd give for the new piece).
