Tritium VS Luminova

I know tritium was used up until around 1998 on many Rolex models to make the dial glow, before they switched everything to the luminova/superluminova.

Other than the obvious reason for the switch, to eliminate the radiation present in tritium, does the luminova offer any other advantages? Does the luminova glow indefinately while the tritium obviously does not?

I've seen posts on here where members reference Subs in particular loosing the glow on pre 1998 models that have tritium dials. Is the glow also lost over time on the luminova dial?
