The Datejust is 36mm, the Date is 34mm..

The Datejust has a large variety of dial options, bracelets, etc..

The Date only comes on an Oyster bracelet and has limited dial options..

Having owned both, i recommend going straight to the datejust. more combinations to choose from. i sorely miss my datejust, itching to replace it with something else.

I am partial to the Date. Love the brushed center links. Bought my Dad one for his 80th birthday.

If you like the 34mm size, like the Air Kings, the Dates can be a bargain. That's especially true in the used market. All gold versions are also out there.

I'd go with DJ's, though. To me, it has always been a great size and there are huge numbers avialable-- used or new. The options available for DJ's are tough to beat, too. However, one of my favorite Rolex dials is the white Romans version that is only for the Date.
