rolex for teenagers

In light of the recent thread about giving a thirteen year old a rolex, I wanted to ask TRF:

I bought my first Rolex at 15, bought, negotiated for, and paid for by me. All of it was money I made by trading gold, silver, watches, and jewelry. No one gave me anything for free. I'm now 17, and love my rolexes and other fine watches. Does TRF still object to teens wearing Rolexes if they earn it themselves?

Why should anyone object if you earned it, doesn't matter what age you are.

I dont object .. I am impressed .. I think it is great that you did it on you're own .. You will cherish you're watches more when you work for them yourself .. Allow me to take the liberty of talking for other members when I say that they probably feel the same way .. 13 years old is way to young for a parent to gift a Rolex .. Allow the 13 year old work like you did

How did you originally obtain the gold, silver, watches and jewelry that you traded?

I was unaware that TRF had an official position on teenage Rolex ownership.

Good question If bought and paid for with all your own work then I would commend you on your accomplishments

At that age boys are interested in a couple of things fast cars and women. If a boy is not interested in the two he has some serious issues and needs help.

I had similar situation as the OP. I worked every day of every summer since I was 12 to save money (not for rolex specifically, just because I wanted money) and accumulated a decent amount. I started buying stocks, mutual funds, and ETF's at 16 while still working, and I had various small businesses working.

I had a team of tutors servicing all local high schools, a painting business and local hockey camps for kids. I put up the money, and had other teenagers looking for work run them for me. My dad, who is an attorney, guided me along with the formalities when I needed help.

Some things worked, some didn't, but the idea of working at mcdonalds or wherever and having other people in charge of me never appealed to me.

LOL but he learns quickly that money leads to women. And after that he learns that women who are only interested in money are trouble.

I hear you I shoveled driveways in the winter and mowed lawns in the summer. I made a lot of money as a teen and I did it all myself. However, back then few people used yard services so all I needed was a mower, a can of gas, a rake, and I was in business!

I didn't uby a Rolex I bought a beat up BSA motorcycle but it was mine and I earned it.

Lol yeah, the thing is, it is so easy to save money as a teen because you have no bills! No mortgage! The money accumulates. And I was extremely cheap lol. But man, I had some crazy ideas and learned many lessons. I lost money on my painting business, for instance. That was a hard lesson for me.

I know, it's pretty great. you get a few people insisting that it's fake though.

seeing as your so one dimensional here is a point for you:
A boy of 16 likes girls ( most do) so according to your logical assessment it is safe to say a rolex will probably help him pick up a few girls at that age.

if you really had a Rolex you'd know that in real world ...

nobody really notices that you are wearing a Rolex, especially sexy ladies for most ladies Michael Kors watches are the holy grail, if by some miracle they do realize you are wearing a Rolex then they naturally assume its fake ... especially if you haven't hit the puberty yet and just label you "fake" ... now quit trolling dude
