Ceramic bezel swapping.. upcoming trend?

So what you think fellow TRFs, will we start seeing more bezelswapping between the ceramic models now that they are getting as common as the old alu-insert models??

How about Blue ceramic ring with Green dial sub?
Or the on like xelor63 pictured here? (sorry for stealing your pic as illustration to thread theme)

Those ceramic inserts are both extremely difficult to find and expensive too so I can't see this as being an easy to do mod.

Have to agree Steve with the average insert cost for a slither of ceramic The retail price for the ceramic insert for a SS GMTII is £375 ($734) + plus applicable taxes in your country.
The retail price for the bezel complete for a SS GMTII is £676 ($1324) + plus applicable taxes in your country. The subs are around $425 for the insert only and would doubt if Rolex would change insert or bezel only to the same as the
original watch especially Rolex USA.Now the old aluminium perfectly functional insert costs in the UK around £25 quite a price difference.

For ar far as I know, the shark is still the only one of its kind...

There is an 116610 on RLX but that one has a 116619 dial as well...

Ceramic bezel swopping will remain something for the happy few...

I got rid of my subC because I felt it was not tough enough for me, I was afraid to break or scratch the bezel. I also couldnt get used to the lugs. nice watch though.

Yup - expensive and inconvenient....It takes less than a couple of mins to switch inserts on a 16610LV/16710 for example....and at a cost of under $100 for the insert. Mods such as these need to be quick and painless to become commonplace.

Is there a risk of damaging the ceramic inserts easier then the aluminum ones just by removing them ?

Read somewhere that the ceramic insert isn't as "flexible" than the aluminium ones, so it would probably be better to change the bezel assemble instead of just the ceramic insert in you are thinking of doing it frequently.
Have never done the changes before, so I can not confirm.

I've said this before...but Rolex never intended for Joe Customer to swap bezels or inserts.

Apart from WIS and forum guys like us, do you think the bazillion Rolex wearers in the world contemplate such mods?

IMO these folks barely know about servicing a watch much less all this switcheroo business.

So no. I cannot see this getting (much) easier or becoming a trend.

As mentioned previously the high cost will make this type of swapping impractical.

Thanks Xelor Great looking shark
So isn't the thing here NOT to replace the insert but replace Bezel+insert in the same time, more expensive but faster & safer operation?

As you fellow members noticed with daytona dial swapping and other stuff the AD's in Sweden,Norway and some other countries in Europe are very relaxed ordering stuff from Rolex for their customers however price is usually high.

Maybe more sharks will surface? Or ceramic black dial green bezel subs?

I say lets go for it, I am thinking about buying LVC AND LNC and doing the swap at a Certified Used Rolex Dealer so they have the skill but less politics,

Or someone with a LN can order a replacement bezel and so can I with my LV then we swap.

Possibility?

I'm in the UK, can we order like that from Rolex without any questions ? Would be more than happy to order my LN Insert and swap with your LV though :))

I've posted numerous times about why the ceramic inserts are likely much tougher than a lot of people fear, but I also think taking one out o the bezel is asking for trouble. The ceramic out of its bezel would be much more at risk of breaking due to the basic properties of a thin ceramic( unsupported). I fully agree that the only realistic way of doing this while keeping the risk low to insignificant is to swap the entire bezel assembly, ie very expensive. Although I think the "shark" is super cool, I can't see many people spending that kind of money. The black on black still looks really good.
Cheers

as the supply/availability of inserts in circulation increases then imho the frequency of exchanging/swapping with others will increase.
