Daytona?
I just bought a new SubC and I am going to swap it for a Daytona as the case is too big for me - hitting my wrist in an odd way. Not comfortable. Seems that the Daytona case may be more contoured to the wrist and slightly thinner. Less weight as well. Any thoughts from you pros? Anyone own both? Thank you...

Did you try on the SubC before you bought? The fit of a watch is something only you can know for sure....

I dont have a SubC, but I have a GMTIIC and a SS Daytona. The Daytona wears a bit lighter because of the case to me. However I also like the wrist presence of the GMTIIC and its not like it bothers me, so I wouldn't want to give up either one.
Just beware if you just got a watch you will probably take a loss trading it this soon. However I recomend you try the Daytona on for yourself first before you make any decision.

i have both. the daytona is thinner and more comfortable for suits, but i prefer the SubC on the weekends. The only issue I have with the SubC is the sharp teeth snagging my cuffs, but it's easy to live with.

A few people here have complained about the weight of the Sub C at least one resent thread was about wrist pain, so you're not alone.
I think if you give it time you will get used to it or maybe go to an AD and have it adjusted. If not then by all means get a watch that is not going to be uncomfortable.

I can't say that I really like the way that the Sub C wears, but it isn't too bad. I can see where it may be heavy or overly large on some wrists..
The Daytona is slick and feels good.. my only complaint is that this is a difficult watch to read in daylight...

strange, sub-c is the most comfortable watch i've ever tried.
if you prefer the daytona go for it, it is not a downgrade for sure.

That may solve the problems you're having with the Sub. Do try it out in the store for a good 5 - 10 minutes.
Have you considered a Milgauss? It sits high enough so that the crown practically never touches the wrist. It is a little heavy, but NOT uncomfortable at all. And, IMHO it's elegant. |

I had a Daytona
For me the SubC is more comfortable. Different depending on the wearer.
I think you will like the feel of the Daytona from what you have said. Good luck.. |

I would recommend trying the Daytona on first! It will likely wear better for you though IMHO.

I have both - and both are equally comfortable for me.
The Daytona has a much smoother, rounded case...so I can imagine many would feel it's more comfortable on their wrist. Definitely feels lighter also. But I like weight in a watch. Take it for a spin....I think it'll be right for you by the sounds of it

Another option is the EXP II, which, to me, wears about like the no-date sub or Daytona. I like the Daytona, but it's a much dressier sport look. |

I would give it some time. What may initially be uncomfortable will feel fine if you give yourself a chance to get used to it...just my 2 cents.

that said, may i suggest you try a different setting for the bracelet on your sub c and see how it feels (if you haven't already) a bit looser/tighter may make all the difference. once i found the correct adjustment for me, the discomfort went away. |

Although I owned one for less then a month - the Daytona was one of - if not the most comfortable watch I have ever had the pleasure to wear - before I bought my Explorer II. Balance and wrist feel was perfect! I feel the same way now about my Explorer II and prefer it's features and low key styling over the Daytona. Good luck in your trade!

I felt same way as you with both of the 2 new ceramics (sub and GMTII). The tangs are sharp and more flush case shape & weight allowed them to slide and rotate more easily on my wrist. The added case weight also pulls more on the bracelet which also has semi-sharp edges to the links. And I tried every combo of links on the 6 & 12, as well as clasp adjustment (gotta love the glidelock!). But to no avail as for my 7 1/4 in wrist it was too much weight. So I have old subs now (no-date and 16610) and GMT II. The older models weigh about 125 grams vs 153 grams for subc (sized to my wrist as I wear them with a few links out).
I also have a daytona and it is very comfortable to wear even though it weighs in at 139 grams. Due to it's case back and case shape it sits just above the wrist and is quite comfortable (for me anyway). So no you are not alone. |
