"Patrizzi" Daytona Question

Is it possible for a "Patrizzi" to be a U series? I am currently looking at purchasing this watch. The seller is telling me the watch is a Petrizzi as the dial has very slightly started to change color. After researching the forum I see Patrizzi's only T,S,N, W series? New to the site so all info would be welcome.
Thanks
Mitch

W, T, and U were all produced during the same relative time frame and overlapped...

So, sure.. The "Patrizzi" dial changes could occur to any of those serials..

How much more (avg.) do the Patrizzi bring? Also are the earlier serials worth more or as long as they are Petrizzi they are worth the same?
Thanks
Mitch

IMHO if there is a U serial Patrizzi it would be an outlier and I wouldn't buy it.

I'm sure that nobody has seen every Daytona made during the late '90's, so it is unknown how far-spread it (the defective paint) is..

The discoloration (browning) around the edges and through the sub-dials of these watches is a defect, and, therefore, although Patrizzi's collection contained some of these dials; every collector does not see it as desireable.. (like spidered dials)

Originally I believe that Patrizzi's Daytona sold for twice the value of others at the time.. but that could be because it was his collection as much as it was the dial and it could not be said that every "Patrizzi" dial would be worth twice what a normal dial of that era is..

I would think that overall condition of the watch itself would still be paramount, with a premium for the dial if that is what the collector is looking for..

Many people arbitrarily throw watches in those ranges in Patrizzi category. I have never heard of or seen a U Patrizzi dial. Furthermore I have seen many people claiming slight Patrizzi effect in dials that look no darker to me than a dial without color change. I have seen very few T's with any color change and have noticed most of the Patrizzi dials with significant color change- that dark cork color - in the W's and S's. The color change took place towards end of 93' when they went from inverted 6 to straight 6. Lastly- beware as there are many people out there that would love your money and this dial has been faked for a long time. I personally would never touch one unless it was an S or W and had complete box and papers. Just my take.......

Essentially the "Patrizzi" dial is a "defect" and will likely be found in a range of production which can not always be determined by the serial number code.
An unknown number of dials were manufactured with the "defective" paint and they could have been installed during the assembly process on a random basis with other dials that were not "defective."
The amount of discoloration is speculated to be based upon exposure to sunlight.
