Still can't believe it...

I cannot believe the prices of Rolex went up again in such a short period of time. I think it is much more correct to define them pieces of jewelry than just watches.

It's the retirement benefits paid to the retired Swiss Rolex production elves.....a big drain on the firm.

It's because the value of the US currency has fallen into an abyss related to world currencies like the Swiss franc.

Once quartz and digital watches rose to prominence, all pricier mechanical timepieces became luxury items. Anyone who spends thousands or even tens of thousands on a watch is not buying it just as a "tool." One would have to be a tool to spend that kind of money for something that just tells time worse than a smartphone.

It's ironic really. As the US economy worsens, Rolex prices increase.

At least there are plenty of rich Americans getting even wealthier --many of them will purchase diamond Rolex models this year.
