Best place for service in Sydney?

Where is the best place for service in Sydney? Is there a RSC in the MLC building (Martin Pl) or is there a better option from reputable watchmaker outside of RSC? Is cost same as OS...ie approx $700 or so? Thanks in advance.

I don't believe there is a RSC in Sydney. Rolex Australia head office and service centre is here in Melbourne - 70 Collins St (03 9654 3988). Last time I had a service the cost was @$450 - $500 on a GMT Master 2. Maybe call them and ask about servicing in the harbour town.

@ mrgibson ---- Wrong

There is definately RSC in Sydney (as the original poster said), though it's in the Australia Square building (which is round!).

There is a RSC in Sydney and one in Melb. I called RSC Melb a few weeks ago and was told the minimum cost for a service is AU$800 not inclusive of any parts that might need to be replaced (gears, crystal etc. you name it). I was also told turnaround is 6 to 8 weeks.

I am considering if I should mail mine in or go in person next time I am in Melb. Besides the internal service the big factor of considering using the RSC is to give the watch the full polish to make it new again. I wonder if there is a difference between Sydney and Melb RSC in terms of quality and what not?

Anyone know if a service involves checking the integrity of the link pins/screws?

How long ago was that service? That is about half the price of what I was quoted on phone.

This one is in Sydney http://www.masterwatchmaking.com.au/ I can't remember where I got this from. I have not used them for anything so can't say if how they are in terms of watch servicing.

I've used both RSC and Max Schweizer for different jobs. Both do a good job.
Not sure if Rolex will sell Max any parts ?

Wow, I was just thinking of servicing my F series Sub LV and called Rolex Sydney today. They can't give me a quote over the phone so I will need to bring it in. If $800 is the going rate, I really need to look at another option.

Does anyone know how much Max will charge for a service? The watch just needs a routine service, hopefully, nothing else. Thanks.

AU$800.00 is not a quote, its the minimum standard fee you will definitely get charged if you take it in for a service. The quote as I was told over the phone will be $800 + any extra charges for any parts that needs to be replaced, so they can't really give you a quote without examining your watch first.

Are you planning a holiday to any neighboring countries soon? If you are maybe take your watch with you and take it to a RSC for service and request the watch to be posted back to you in Oz.

...and people think Australia is a Paradise Tell everyone you know to come to Australis IF they would like to experience what it feels like to be ripped off every day of your life

BTW a Kilo of Banana cost about AU$15 on average at the moment Imagine my shock when I looked through the supermarket receipt a few weeks back and saw $30 for a few bananas...that will teach me to not look at the price when shopping at the supermarket

I could debate you all day long on "costs" of living in OZ vs US...
If I could get my wife to move, id be back in oz in a heartbeat.

RSC do a great job here in Sydney, but can be expensive. I have used Max Schweizer many times and have been happy on every occasion. He will save you a significant amount of money compared to RSC.

Thanks all for the info. I do go to Chicago each summer for about 3 weeks...maybe an option there to have it serviced and shipped back. Im assuming the package would be marked "service" so not tax is payable...surely...thanks again everyone.

What you actually said was thinly veiled profanity statement, not appropriate for the boards....
