First post! Question about my Datejust!
Hello everyone! I am so glad I stumbled upon this forum! Self proclaimed watch lover here!
I have a few question and am seeking an opinion, upon much internet searching it is clear that this forum is the most incredible wealth of information! So I thought I would post! A few years back I purchased a pre-owned 2006 Rolex Datejust Serial Number D516XXX and Style Number 11623441RB6320, Rhodium with Diamonds Steel and White Gold, The watch is in perfect condition, and I've been told it is running at optimum performance. With it I received all of the documentation, the only thing missing is the original Rolex box. I paid 4200.00 for it. A friend recently purchased the Datejust II, and I just LOVE the larger size of it. I love the Rhodium face with the blue arabic numerals. The original owner purchased the watch at Tourneau. I know they do trade ins and I have the original bill of sale. I went to Tourneau to have a trade in appraisal. They offered me I believe either 2000/2500 towards the purchase of the Datejust II. 1. I haven't been successful at finding the same year/make/model for sale on the internet, what would todays purchase price be for my watch if sold privately? 2. As far as long term investment value is concerned, is it foolish to get rid of this watch and purchase the Datejust II instead? 3. What are your thoughts regarding the Tourneau trade in? I have attached a photo of my watch. Thanks everyone! |

My 2c is for you to keep yours. I think it's gorgeous.
If you want, you can certainly (once you reach the specified criteria) try to sell it in the FOR SALE section here. If you do, you really might want to consider buying from a Trusted Seller here also. That's the best way you'll end up losing the least. Again, I'd consider keeping it. |

I'd rather have a root-canal done without an anaesthetic then deal with Tourneau.
Welcome to TRF!

First of all, welcome to TRF!
And about that DJ...man, don`t do it! It looks really awesome and, despite the fact that it`s smaller than DJ II, it doesn`t look inferior at all. About investments...I don`t think that DJ or DJ II are very good as investment (I hate that word). If you want watch that keeps it`s value, it`s better to look into Rolex sport models... And DJ II is new model, there will be lots of opportunities to get one of these... Have I already said that you have beautiful watch?

If I have to, would rather sell it right here on the forum. Never trade in with the AD.

If you're sure you want to sell it, you will definitely do better with a private sale! Then I'd suggest taking advantage of saving by purchasing the new piece from one of our great dealers here!
