Goodbye Rolex, Hello Blancpain

I admit that over the last two years I've become disillusioned with Rolex and I speak as someone who's worn Rolex, more or less for 22 years. I've tried quite a lot to re-invigorate my love for the brand and in the last two years I have bought (and sold / traded)
  • TT Yachtmaster
  • TT Ceramic Submariner
  • 5513 Submariner
  • SS Daytona
  • Project X Submariner
  • Ceramic LV Submariner
They just didn't "do it" for me anymore. Anyway, I've long wanted a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and put my name down for the Anniversary model a few years ago but didn't get one. I never pulled the trigger on one as I thought them just a little too pricey and a little too large. Having had a Panerai for some months I became used to the size coupled with the soaring Rolex price rises I decided to pull the trigger. Just to cap it off though I stuck it on an Isofrane strap.

great one Nathan

i also have a soft spot for the 50th - great looking piece and wears well.
got to try the Tribute piece the other day and i must say, it has re-sparked my liking to the piece again.
i like the one with fabric and/or rubber strap

any chance of some wrist pix? please

(im sure you will be back to the Rolex fold one day.... soon )

Nice FF!

Sorry to hear that your passion for Rolex has faded but you chose a great watch!
I sometimes regret selling mine.
Definately my favorite Blancpain. Congratulations and I hope it keeps you company for many years to come.

That one looks perfect on you.

No point of owning Rolex just for the exercise of owning Rolex. Use what sings to you.

Cheers,

Love the Blancpain, fortunately I don't want to give up on Rolex for it. I'd sure like to try one of those on. I have the previous model.

Awesome watch. I have been a fan of Blancpain for a while and there is a good chance one of their models will be my next purchase. I really like the look of their watches and the fact that they only make so many watches a year.

Looks great on you, I wish I had the wrist to pull it off.
Unfortunately it took me getting one and actually owning it
before I realized and accepted the fact my wrist is too small
to pull it off so now I am going to sell it and go back to a trusty
Rolex as that is what works best for me...

Great looking watch... has some features/characteristics of Rolex (note sub bezel, milsub like hands).

Enjoy!

Found this half-old thread and couldn't agree more...
Getting a Blancpain FF could cause the Rolex's collecting dust in the watchbox, the finish and craft in the Fifty Fathoms is amazing

Here's mine

The BP FF is a great looking watch, I have oftern wondered about getting one, but have never pulled the trigger.

And of course the lume is absolutely awesome.

Like you after years of being a Rolex fan, I also moved away to other brands.

Regards
Tony
