Icon9 Faulty Ceramic Bazel Deep Sea

After 2 years my ceramic bezel on my Sea Dweller Deep Sea is now rotating in both directions, however it is only between the 11 and 2 o'clock position.

The rest of the rotation positions it only goes anti clockwise.

Has anyone any ideas, I have just sent it back to Rolex for them to examine!

Its just going to be a click spring that's a bit worn or something, I've changed about 10 of the things on various watches, they are a consumable part that sees a lot of wear.

First are you using your watch for scuba diving,if not would not worry to much about it till service time.Although many dive watch sites have reported that the DSSD bezel was very easy to turn by accident underwater.IMHO this is mainly now to the ball bearing surface which the bezel turns on.Having re-read your post you have sent it back to Rolex I am sure it will be a simple fix and hope you get your watch back soon.It could be wear/dirt on the unidirectional pin and spring, or slight wear on a portion of the click teeth on the bezel it self.

It's odd that you would only have an issue at the 11/12 position. The new bezels use a completely different design and the "click" is a spring loaded tooth in a hole in the case, pushing upwards. This tooth meshes with like teeth in the bottom of the bezel ring..

So, either you have some dirt/gunk in the teeth of the bezel, and a good flushing under warm running water with some soap will clean it out, or you have some missing teeth...

Oh really? So there's no more click spring mechanism?

Not like the wire on like the 16610 on the ceramic its a spring loaded upright pin.

Out of curiosity, how often did you use/turn your bezel?

A bezel that turns, thats novel, i always thought the pearl stayed at the 12 o'clock position.

I hardly ever used to rotate the bezel.
Took it diving for a week in the red sea but it wash flushed with fresh water after each dive

Apparently it is not safe to use the bezel....EVER!!!

I'm not trying to make light of your serious bezel issue. I use mine frequently to track a second timezone and although it does spin without much effort compared to other watches, I was curious if it was an overuse issue.

The clicks remind me of the sound the windage and elevation knobs make on a nice rifle scope.

Cheers
