It this true about Rolex YM?

I read that only Rolex can polish the platinum bezel. Is this true? I know when RSC service the watch, they can polish it. I am just curious if its possible for a good watch maker to polish the bezel without sending it back to Rolex. This is going to help me decide if I should buy a YM. Thanks to your input~

I just got a YM a few months ago....anyway, here's my opinion- even if there is a watchmaker who can do it, I would still send it to Rolex for polishing. Just to be sure. It's a beautiful watch!

It's a bead blasted finish and one that I'd only trust with RSC, as they have the proper equipment to deal with it!

I had mine done here in Canada, and it turned out great!

Rolex USA will not refinish a platinum YM bezel insert. You would need to ask one of the well respected watchmakers here (Bob Ridley, Dalton, Rikki) if they or anyone they know refinishes these. Your averagte jeweler cannot properly do this.

Most watchmakers will ship the bezel to Rolex when they start the overhaul so it is complete when finishished. It is not only a matter of the bead blaster, but being able to properly mask the numbers (polished areas). There are elite watchmakers that do this without sending to RSC, as they have the specialized equipment and expertise.
