Datejust or Datejust II?

What do you think? Would you buy a Datejust (steel and white gold) or a Datejust II (steel and white gold)?

Why choose? You can get a nice pre-loved DJ and a DJII for the price of a brand new DJII.

If forced to choose I'd go for the DJII. No wait, the DJ...Ehhh the DJII.

Agreed. Great looking watch and dial, I would take this over a DJII or DD all days of the week

DateJust. The DateJust II just looks disproportionate IMHO.

Unless you are built like "The Thing" from fantastic 4. Then it's gotta be 36mm DJ

The dial will impact what I would get but in general I would go with the Datejust II

Having owned both I have to say DJ unless your
wrists are around 8 in or bigger I just think the
watch looks disproportionate

Datejust all the way, dj 2 just looks wrong and are too big for a dress watch.

Unless you have a relatively small wrist, I recommend the DJII. It's a more substantial watch. IMHO, the proportions are just fine for the dial size.

I have relatively small wrists, but the datejust just seems too small after having the subc on my wrist. I have come to conclusion that a DJII would be fine for everyday wear, but a regular DJ would be better for dressier occasions.

Hands down a DJII for me 36mm is just too small IMO for a mans watch

Try them both and see which one really suits your wrist better...............then go with that one!! Simple, uh?

Good luck - JJ

I prefer the Datejust II pure just for looks.

JJ is that your photo, you look like Terry Tibbs.

Does anyone know the processing time for a new thread?

The 36mm DJ would be my choice. I am not hip to the current trends of large watches, For me my 34mm Date looks good on my small wrists. I saw the DJII at an AD, it looks odd.

if i had to choose one, I would go with the DJ...DJII is not attractive with the awkward proportions...however, i would vote for nearly any sport model instead of both

Maybe its because its such a classic. but the
look and proportions of the original Datejust
are so perfect, The DJ says 'Rolex', but doesnt
shout it. At times, the DJ II says 'This is a Rolex
too' a bit louder than I like .. ..

Icon6 DJII all the way

DJ II in white or ivory dial. Newest model, more watch for the money, and 41mm looks more like a man's watch than the 36mm, imo. But if you have really small wrists then go with the DJ.
