Breitling Cosmonaute

Hello all. I have been reading avidly on this forum for a few months but this is my first post. I got an offer to trade for a 1968 Breitling Cosmonaute. The owner describedit as a "triple register chronograph running a Breitling adapted venus 178 chronograph movement under Breitling reference number 819." Any ideas as to what this is worth? It is missing the chronometer reset button. I've attached a picture. Thanks guys!

First of all, welcome.

Secondly, what are you trading it for?

Last but not least, my personal opinion, I wouldn't take up a watch that is missing anything at all. There are those risks that I am afraid of taking up, such as - what if the chrono reset button is no longer available/hard to find? Or what happened to it to make it lose the button? Did the owner drop it? Banged it? What happens to the movement then? Etc etc etc...

Be careful. I had to send my Vintage Cosmonaute to $witzerland to get fixed. This watch will definitely need $ervice.

Thanks guys. The trade is valued at $2,000. So if I got it, would it be realistic to put $500 in it and sell it for $3,000 or am I way off base here?

Get a quote on service first. If you go with a Breitling authorized service dealer, the cost for an overhaul and parts replacement for this vintage piece will cost more and take a few months! My Cosmonaute went in January and had to be sent to Switzerland. Still waiting. $$$
