bezel

I recently purchased a 5512. From my research it appears correct. I have the "original crystal", but came with a new one. I am told it is OEM , but have my doubts. the watch is working well, but the bezel is not ratcheted, is bi-directional,and is very tight--I can turn it around 360 degrees with only great effort. MY experience in vintage matters, as you can see, it limited.

Is this normal?

thanks.

The bezel on a 5512 is bi-directional with no clicking. What you describe sounds correct. The bezel is friction fitted. If you push down while turning it should be a little easier to turn.
Hope this helps. Post a pic for more info on OEM/service parts or not.

There's three likely reasons a Submariner/GMT bezel may not turn correctly. The worst case scenario is that the bezel ring that provides water resistance and holds the bezel in place is warped. More likely the washer and the bezel need to be cleaned and re lubricated with special casing grease. Finally, it may be an aftermarket bezel. They never fit like the originals. Good Luck.
