Icon20 What do you think of RubberB straps?

What do you think of RubberB straps, made only for Rolex?

There is an interesting article on them on Jake's rolex blog...

A white rubber on my 16610lv could work quite well.

Is isofrane better?

I like the idea, but the looks of the tapering rubber strap is a bit odd. I'm used to straight rubber straps, for example the Isofrane. The price is steep, the Isofrane is a lot cheaper. And the Isofrane is sportier too, IMHO. For a sporty look (for e.g. the Sub-C) I'd pick the Isofrane over the RubberB. For a bit more restrained looks (for e.g. a Daytona) I'd pick the RubberB.

And BTW, I'm not entirely sure about comfort either. I think it may be difficult to size the RubberB for thin wrists, since there seems to be not enough rubber "links" to tear from the 6-hour side. But I may be wrong about this.

So 2 pieces of recycled tyre rubber costs over 200 bucks? Does that include the clasp?!?

don't know much about this particular strap, but, a fine quality rubber strap can be quite nice, comfortable and expensive (rightly so), IMHO. remember dalip's AP?

Exactly!

Clearly many folks here have never gone through the wallet rape of ordering a rubber OEM strap from the likes of IWC, U.N., Audemars Piguet, Patek, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet, or Roger Dubuis (etc, etc.). The damn things are expensive--often considerably more than these things.

Are these rubber straps overpriced? As a fundamental object, most certainly, but no more so than most things sold as "luxury goods", be it a piece of jewelry, a watch, a deployant clasp in 18K gold or platinum, or a strap. And to their credit, these new rubber straps do look very well made, with a nice integration to the stock Rolex clasps. Best of luck to the makers...I wish them well.

IMO no good. Looks like a omega po strap. Don't like the ridge and overall look. Price point way too high and you have to use your clasp which means more time in a change over. For me I want to change straps not take apart the bracelet too.

I've had the isofrane for two weeks. It's awesome. Great quality. Retro look. Doesn't smell or collect dust. has the made for sub, dive watch look vs. The rubberb's mod, trying too hard look. Also, who in their right mind would put a sub on a white strap. That look makes me barf.

I'm-a no like. Rubber looks great for about 15 minutes. Then it starts to form surface 'varnish' and turn to s**t. Fuggetaboutit.

I don't know, I think on certain Rolexes it would look kinda cool! They look very well make and I actually like them better than the Isofrane strap.

I would agree that they are overpriced. That said, I have one that I ordered last week and the quality imo is better than the various panerai, breitling and other rubber straps that I've had. Some of you might not like that it tapers, but it suits the watch and I can honestly say that if rolex themselves decided to make them, they would look and feel very very similar to the rubberb line. I've shown mine to a local ad and he was shocked at the craftsmanship, said himself that it looked like rolex made them. I purchased a new strap for my daytona wg from an ad and it was a bit over 400$ so 220$ is not the end of the world. I spoke to one of the owners the day I ordered mine, he told me that they spent a year and a half developing them with a swiss manufacturer,, that could be why the price is a bit higher than we'd expect...

I would have to agree, it's not just an ordinary rubber strap. I wouldn't dream of putting a $20 rubber strap on a Rolex, but one of these... Yeah, I think so.

I prefer the look of the Isofrane rubber strap.......more sporty & with those slots/holes it's got some
"breathing"vents! a plus: it's US$109. delivered.....vs. US$220. (? delivery charges?) & then.............................................. ......................................w/ the Iso, you get a buckle free, on the strap!
you have to dis-assemble the bracelet even more, for the clasp....unless you want to buy another clasp set up from Rolex(is that possible?), after you dis-assembled more to take the bracelet off the watch........bah humbug....I'll settle for a NATO strap, less cost....& I'll use the balance to buy good gin, vermouth & olives!

It blends in on certain models for sure.
I like it but is a little pricey.
