Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Think it looks ok but I am not an expert on gilt sub dials... If you have doubts my recommendation would be to contact trusted dealers and have them find a good one for you. They cost a lot and I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a dial if I wasn't sure.

Any way, good luck :)

Want to share your knowledge? What gives it away? Sloppy letters? Wrong text? Re-lume? Everything?

I'd love to learn more. :)

Re- lume in my opinion and can't tell from shadow towards top if it was relaquered or not.

Ps- also bad lighting for picture so not a great evaluation photo.

Thanks.
It is hard to find a replacement, even with the help of experts on the look out.
I am not actually that bothered about a re-lume, but don't want a redial.
It is better to ask others their opinion as I think it is too easy to see what you want to see so to speak.

Handsome dial and ....

... coronet, font and text alignment seem AOK to me.

The nicks on the dial edge have caught my attention though (1:00 and 7:00 plots).

Suggests it's been clamped for some work at some time. Well-executed though if it is a re-lume

I think the coronet, font and text are fine- not refinished dial but lume looks re-done to me. Again- the lighting stinks. I still can't tell if the top has been relaquered or if that is bad lighting/ shadows.

5513 dial update.

Managed to get some more info.
I found another buyer of one of these dials and the feller is certain that it it a fake and the seller refuses a refund.
Give away is the spacing of some of the letters in SUBMARINER. Fairly obvious when you look closely.
Don't want to be slanderous just in case, but the seller is in France.
Possibly one of the best copies yet I guess.
Thanks.

Nasty close fake, agreed on the text spacing, compare to this genuine dial from the VRF dial archive...

Is the seller in France? There was a seller in France on ebay selling "distressed" refinished 5513 and 5512 dials on ebay for $900.00 recently and marketing them as originals. The dial looks like refinished gilt dials that are available from "yuki-watch" for $150.00 with a coating or something on top but I'm not sure... also, is the back still black or is the brass showing?

Yes this seller is in France and selling $900 dials.
This dial is actually better than Yuki-watch dials that are very good, but a little too crisp.
These really do look the part.
I could release the info on the seller, but am not sure if its the right thing to do.
Anyway, if anyone wants to do a search for Rolex dials and other Rolex items from a French seller on the UK site will soon find it.
Silly really as I am sure some of his watches are OK, but who would trust him now? Certainly not me.

I bought one of these dials, looked at it in person, and ended up getting a refund from him. The back of it was clean brass, re-finished and the clear coating on the face looked tampered with. I have one of the Yuki dials, compared it, and I think that they are the same dial that the seller has distressed and darkened himself. If he is selling a 5512 gilt dial right now, the layout is wrong, in one color, and exactly the same as the 5512 gilt Yuki dial in terms of layout. He insisted that he took it off a watch himself, but both the 5512 and 5513 dials that were sold a month apart on ebay had the exact matching even warm patina on the dial and warm puffy markers...
