Breitling B2 Gaining Time?
Hi all...new to the forum though been lurking for quite some time. Wondering if any Breitling owners have experienced consistent issues with their watch keeping accurate time?
Bought my husband a B2 as an engagement present in 2006 from an AD here in MD. Starting about 8 months ago, it started gaining 10 seconds a day on a regular basis. Before this issue started, it always kept incredibly accurate time...and its been back in and out of the Breitling hospital 4 times since then...it just got back from the fourth visit to Breitling and we're picking it up this weekend. Common issue? Any potential root causes? He wears the B2 all the time, but is really careful with it. And weird that this just started happening a few months ago. Thanks in advance.... |

The B2 uses a Cal 42 movement which is based upon an ETA 2892 movement with the addition of a chronograph module by Dubois/Depraz.
The movement has no reported problems that I am aware of. It is said that the movement has very small dimensions and is one of the smallest chronograph movements in existence. Thus it may be more difficult to regulate accurately. However, there shouldn't really be a problem with the watch if it has been services properly. These watches have no reported history of problem for which I am aware... It should be fixed under warranty.....

Thanks for the reply - we're curious to see if this most recent repair / service fixes things.

Welcome to the Forum.
I seem to remember an issue with the DD module in that it was easier for some watchmakers to replace than repair if there was ever problem with it. Having said that I woud expect that a competent watchmaker could at least identify any problem with the watch and advise you.

Welcome to TRF! I love my B2, unfortunately I gave it away as a present.
To the OP, service time unfortunately. |

Hi everyone - just wanted to give you an update. After this latest trip to the Breitling Hospital, the B2 is acting just fine.
The guy at the retailer was giving us a lecture on how we needed to ensure my husband was moving around throughout the day, or else the watch may lose time. We politely reminded him that the watch was GAINING time and asked to speak to the watch expert. The B2 looks fantastic though it was tough for my hubby to have the B2 off his wrist for so long! |
