Cartier Calibre thoughts?
I'm thinking of picking up one of these this year. I tried it on and loved it with the new bracelet. It felt larger than the 42mm size. Does anyone else have any experience with this model or own one? I'd love to hear your opinions.
Thanks |

I tried it on and it was too big for me. The lugs really didn't hit my wrist correctly at all. I do like the looks of it though!

nice looking but when i tried it on i felt it wore bigger than a 42, also found the curved lugs uncomfortable but when I tried it on it was with the Cartier strap/deployment, good luck!

i have a datejust II and my wife bought me the steel with white dial on black leather strap calibre de cartier for me for my birthday present. it's a really really nice watch. It's big, but it's not TOO big. it's just perfect for me. i get more compliments on the cartier than on my datejust ii. i say go for it!

I think it looks nice. Very masculine looking. My wife was actually the one who pointed it out to me. She says it'll look good on me though I haven't tried it on myself.
I definitely think the steel bracelet version is the better deal in the long run since leather straps are practically a dime a dozen, while bracelets are way harder to come by.

it's very distinctive and very cartier. there's a tension between the masculine and modern case & bracelet and more classic cartier-style dial that doesn't sit right with me, though. also, the date window is a bit much and won't age well, IMHO.
but, that's all personal preference...objectively speaking, it exudes quality and is an important piece for cartier with its in-house movement. if you like it, go for it. the bracelet sports it up a bit, too. |

I bought one with the leather strap. It is very comfortable for a watch its size and wears well. I like Cartier in general, so to get one with an in house cote de Geneve movement was a no brainer. I bought mine used from a TRF power seller for under $5k. These watches have lots of wiggle room for bargaining unlike SS Rolex.

It seemed a lot bigger than my Sub C when I tried it on. It didn't seem to fit me right. It does look nice.

Hey, I bought 'Knobberboy's' Calibre right here on TRF!
Silver Dial/Black strap - Have to say I'm loving it! When I initially was interested in this model - seeing it in magazines/on line etc I thought that it would make a nice classy dress watch - But it is BIG and Chunky - it has become a short sleeves or rolled sleeved watch for sure.. I agree it wears bigger than 42mm. But it balances Sporty with refined so well... When It was first released, the bracelet wasn't an option.. The factory strap does not feel to have that much quality, and the deploymet clasp is a bit of an insult for a watch at this level - so I would buy bracelet and switch out for a nice aftermarket strap - I'm sure Cartier would charge >$400 for a factory leather, and it is really not worth it.. |

Nice watch!
Does not wear well for me though. My wrists are only 6.8 in though.

Nice watch, i am planning on buying one for my wife, the cartier sales person told me that there was an increase in the price from $6.500 to $7.200, so you better buy it now before it goes for an even higher price.

Hi Justin,
Well, I tried on the Calibre today. I put down a deposit, and will pick it up in a couple of weeks. I went downtown to see if they had the silver dial with steel bracelet in stock, and before I went in the store, I saw it staring at me in the display window! It was the first time I saw it in the flesh, and as soon as I did that did it! I just knew I had to have it. I have never tried on a watch of any size that fits my wrist so well. While I love my Explorer I 36mm and my Air-King, I am always wiggling my wrist to adjust them properly. This watch, to me, has an almost whimsical quality to it. The bracelet is just exquisite as well. I love the fact that it is designed specially for this model, and no other Cartier. I spent quite a bit of time with my friend Ian looking at the other Cartier watches as well. Absolutely stunning! Here is a wrist shot - not my photo - but taken at the Geneva presentation in April, for the new Calibre bracelet: The photo is courtesy of Geo, moderator of the Cartier forum on Revo-online. A forum I would recommend highly to anyone. An absolutley wonderful group of people on there, and a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding all of the Cartier watches, plus other jewelry and accessories. Hope sincerely that you enjoy your Calibre as much as I do mine, when you get it. Cheers Carl
