Imminent world price rise in August

Just got back from a weeks holiday in Greece where I popped into the official rolex dealer where I was staying. He informed me that around the 15th of August there will be a worldly price rise between 8-15 per cent....something to do with the Swiss currency?? Any thoughts

Soooooo many threads like this...salesman wants you to buy NOW before that dreaded price hike...and you know what? There's always a price hike, the prices are obviously not going to ever go down.

I agree sounds like an AD trying to sell a watch... That being said I do see another increase this year here in the US anyway, cannot speak for the rest of the world

I'd like to think I'm not silly enough to say "hey, I better buy a watch from you mister because you told me they are going up soon!"

15%!!! That would put the 116710 at over 9k and the 116610 at over 9100. That's crazy. Hopefully they won't do this, like the other gentleman said it's probably a sales pitch.

Two things I hear every time I walk into an AD.

1. There will be a price hike...soon!

2. If a woman is helping me whatever Rolex I am looking her boyfriend has and she loves it on him...it's her favorite.

Well there does seem to be a history of price hikes in the late Summer/early Fall time frame.

I was really hoping there wouldn't be one until next Spring.

I hope the salesman was merely speculating.

I don't think I would pay $7k for a 14060M, simply as a matter of principle.

Just heard from a fellow member that Malaysia had a price increase last week of around 8%. As many have mentioned, just a fact of "Rolex" life, constant price increase.

You say "worldly" and "the 15th of august" ?

It's impossible ... as the 15th of August is an holyday in France and all our AD will be closed that day.

Maybe tje 16th ...

That lines up with what my AD told me a few weeks ago here in Canada. They were not sure of the date buts its coming.
There has not been a price increase since 2010 here in Canada and the U.S. has had one this year so it makes sense.

well yes, the entire country of Greece will be in default soon, so I would say that's at least a 15% worldly price hike. what is a world price hike increase anyway? only on rolexes or everything in the world. this whole thread doesn't make any sense.

I agree that this thread doesn't make any sense either.

No doubt there will be another price increase before the end of the year, there usually is.

A price hike in August of between 8 - 15% worldwide however?? I don't think so.

Can't hurt the pre-owned and vintage market. Plenty of watches available for purchase there. Not likely you'll pay sales taxes either.

who knows
Panerai will go up with 10% in the US starting from august, so I wouldn't be surprised if Rolex did the same

The USD and EURO are crap these days and the CHF gets stronger day after day

I thought we just had a price increase here? Two in one year, that will hurt.

I am not a fan of the newer models, I enjoy the previous generation of Rolex watches and the vintage acrylic crystal models. I already own one of the Rolexes on my list, and can wait a couple of years until I get another one.

So what's the average "worldly" discount AD going to be now?

Hahahahahahaha!
