Datejust 36mm 16014, again a tube question...
Hello all
As this is my first post on the board, maybe it would be nice to introduce myself: My name is Mike, I live i Sweden and work with security issues/systems.. Big fan of diving watches these are a few in my collection: Sea Dweller 16600, Tag Heur 1000 professional (cult), Oris Regulateur, Rado Diastar and countless with Citizen aqualands and Suuntos.... Anyhow, I recently bought a Datejust for my wife a very nice one with stones in the dial. However the crown is impossible to tighten due to bad tube. It's a Oyster Perp. Datejust 16014, 3035 movement and 6.xxx.xxx serial. Now the question: What size is the tube, maybe someone have a product ID? Bye for now |

Welcome to TRF..
I would find it odd that the problem would be the tube. Although they do go bad, unless the threads are visibly stripped I would need more information to conclude that this is the problem... New tubes can be had at almost any watchmaker supply house such as Jules Borle or Otto Frei, but the installation is more complex than just unscrewing one and screwing on another... Perhaps you have a local watchmaker/Dealer who could do a complete service for a nominal charge..

Välkommen Mike!
Jag skulle tro att krona och hals är slitna och behövs bytas ut. Gå till en återförsäljare och låta dom titta på den. Får du fukt i klockan är risken att rost börjar bilda sig och det kan gå väldigt fort.

Thanks for the answers, I went to the Rolex dealership in Stockholm the other day. They examined it and said that because of that the watch is not bought i Sweden, and does not have the original dial and bracelet they will not take the watch in for service...
They also said that they could send it to Rolex HQ and do a full restoration to original, price about 2000€ (3100$)... After that I was that not impressed of that dealership... Vad säger du om det TSW, tips på någon som kan hjälpa? Kul med svenska på forumet! |

I suggest that when you replace the tube you replace the crown also, I would think both are damaged.
