Scammer??

Hey guys, looking for one of you guys that sells a lot of watches to chime in here. I have my Omega seamster GMT on craigslist and received a response which I am 99% sure is a scam. The guy says he is interested and wants to pay via paypal. I tell him I will only accept cash or wire transfer and he offers to pay with e-check. The guy says he lives in NJ, I am in NY so I would obviously be shipping the watch. I have no plans on selling to this thief, but am wondering is accepting paypal or e-check safe? I am also thinking of posting my watch here, but how can I be sure I won't get scammed here?? Opinions and past experiences are welcome, thanks guys!!!

E-checks are more secure than standard Paypal. There was only a $5.00 charge vs the standard almost 3% for payment using the e-check. I did read somewhere recently however, that Paypal was considering or had already put into effect, their standard fee schedule for e-check I do not believe that a chargeback can be issued against an e-check but you should verify that........either on the Paypal site or via Google.

Good luck

If it doesn't feel right, stay away. And it sounds like it doesn't feel right if you're asking about it here. One of the benefits of c-list is a face to face transaction, albeit not without risks. I probably wouldn't do it.

Wire transfer only and do not ship until the transfer has cleared and you can move the money to a separate account. Always protect yourself first and do not trust the bank on checks it's happened before a bank will say it's fine only to come back 5-7 days later to say the check is no good.

PayPal is good for trusted people there are people here that I have bought from who were willing to let me pay by PayPal check but only after they checked me out first. But PayPal protects the buyer so be careful.

Like others have said if it feels weird walk away...oh and if possible never sell high end items on Craigslist that's just asking for trouble.
