Having trouble choosing between two Subs

I want to get a new Sub but I am having the hardest time deciding between the 16610LV and the 116610LN. The 16610LV is really unique but there is some chance that I may not like the green bezel in a few years. An AD told me that the black insert for the LV is fractionally smaller than the green insert that comes with the watch and that makes me think that I need to be fully committed to the green bezel. There is a part of me that says go with the 116610LN. The larger case is a great way to add presence without making it an over sized watch and getting the latest and greatest is always nice. Has anyone decided between the two and why did you choose one over the other. Thanks!

You can fit black bezel into green sub. No worry there.

Think about the advantage of new Sub-c (solid bracelet, glidelock, new clasp) over old sub. I had 16610 before and now have 116610. (Both black bezel). The upgrade is enormous.

I would grab the 116610 IMHO all the upgrades are just too difficult to pass up. That being said why not consider a 116610 LV It is a lot of green but it often times look black and is one hell of a great watch

As for the green, it will grow on you

The AD telling you the black insert is smaller, I do not believe this to be correct info. There are several here on the boards that have purchased a 16610LV and swapped the insert out with a black one from a 16610, no problems or issues to the best of my knowledge. That being said I would still go ceramic

Those are two strong endorsements for the latest and greatest. The 116610LV is amazing! I think there is some risk with purchasing the green Sub C but it's one of those choices where you say to yourself later, I am so psyched that I took the risk I absolutely love this watch. This will hopefully be my last watch purchase and I think conservative is the way to go. I am sort of leaning towards the black Sub C but the 16610LV has the advantage of being different without being an emotional choice that you out grow later. Thanks for the comments. This forum is awesome!

People on here are really falling in love with the new Green Ceramic sub. It's one of those watches you just can't capture in a photograph. If you get a chance to see one in the flesh it might just sing to you.

What a tough choice this is! The only logical solution is to buy them both! LN for conservative days and LV for when you want something unique!

16610 LV, seems like that watch will be unique in Rolex history, Green BZ and Black dial.

If you think you won't like the green bezel some time later don't get it. Keep it safe and avoid the stress, get the 116610LN.

These are for you... Really consider the new Green Ceramic sub!

As Adam aka Mortgage Guy said, the new updated bracelet/clasp and maxi dial are just too good to miss...

I hope this helps with your decision!

I have both in ceramic, and I'd go with the black first. It's more versatile, and just "glitters" more. The green dial is nice with its color changing at different angles and under different lighting, but the black to me is more "blingy" overall.

I'm not a big fan of the Hulk, but I do have the 16610LV. It's the green dial that I couldn't wrap my head around.

The black insert is a non-issue, I don't know where your AD came up with that. So with the 16610LV you have an option of going with either the green or black insert.

The choice is yours really, so I guess it kind of depends if you want to be able to go with a watch that gives you 2 options or one with the latest improvements. By the way I often find I am glad I have the older style as those are lighter and can be a bit more comfortable. But I also like the latest version as well. So its good to have options and it just depends on what you prefer the most.

I'd go ceramic model over the non any day. As mentioned the upgrades are just too good to pass up. Check out the LV C as recommended above and see what you think. It seems to be a love it or hate it model.

Good luck!!!!!!!!

Just got my new sub C and very happy. Black is the safe bet, but that green in inviting. Tough call.

I'm not a fan of the green, but many love it.

YOU gotta decide at the end of the day.

Go old school and get the 16610LV. If after you buy and wear for a while you decide you want he new sub c LN, you can trade up.

I prefer the 16610 over the 116610, but I don't like the green.
So of those2 I would pick the black sub-C

I had same problem and went original lv, black insert does fit perfect, I have it in now. that ad is full of it! as far as the bracelet improvements I keep mine on different colored natos so I could care less about that. wasn't worth the extra $3k for me .right now its on black and blue nato, black insert, still has maxi dial, but no huge case. and when I am bored I go back to green insert with black nato or black or green nato. straps are $20. I throw the bracelet on for formal wear, but most of the time its fun & sun with the nato. plus black inserts only like $100. subc insert (if u can find one) a lot more $. only u can choose what's write for u my friend. try them both on and u will know. if u like the lv just wished it was all black than its an easy choice. if u don't like the green or think its worth the extra $ if u got it for the upgrades on the bracelet larger case and blue lume then go sub c

I would go with the 16610LV cause it is unusual and you can change the insert to a black one so don't worry about not being able to change the insert

I had the same choice to do and went with the LV because:
- it is already vintage, quite rare and not too classical with the acid green touch. (less green than the new one)
- slim body: with its slim lugs with diagonal brushing and delicious chamfers, it is directly related to the old subs... Slim means more refined.
- lighter bracelet and buckle, without weldings, tested and approved over the years.
- aluminium insert is easy to replace with a black one, and will fade slowly over the years. It is much cheaper to replace. (the recessed numbers in the new one can be altered)
- it has a real dive extension.
- If you regret buying it, you can sell it without loosing money to buy the 116610.

The most important question, and main difference: DO YOU LIKE THE MAXI DIAL?
(give you a good week to think about this precise question)

Thanks to all for the advice. Dino's pics are making me consider the green Sub C. The all green really gives the new case a nicely proportioned look. I will see both the 116610 LN and LV next weekend at the local dealer. The 16610 LV is out of sate which makes it more difficult to choose.

Is the new Sub C that heavy?
