1675 Mark 1 Dial Question
How can you tell if a 1675 Matte Mark 1 Dial is original, or a recent service replacement. In other words, is there a Mark 2, 3? Is it matte? Does it look identical with identical markings........

A recent service replacement will have luminova plots as opposed to an original tritium matte mark I

Is the Mark 1 easily identifiable versus any other possible dial that may get placed on the GMT. In other words, if the watch was purchased in 68 and a new dial was placed on it later, would it get a Mark 2, 3. I'm trying to visibly identify a Mark 1 versus any other Matte dial that may be similar.

Long "E" in Rolex, meaning all horizontal stripesnin E are equal length. Check VRF dial library.

Pete, I had a look at the photos regarding this 1968 GMT. The band and dial are original for the watch, and are in very nice condition along with the case. The correct dial on these watches had the long "E" in the word Rolex. Again, this dial is correct for this watch. Now, make him an offer he can't refuse!

Hi John,
I apologize about the confusion on the phone, I was actually expecting a call from Dallas (Dell, Inc) so i could ride them about my screwed up server order......... I just wanted to thank you for our conversation today. I took your advice and made an offer. We'll see how it goes......... Pete |

Hi Ken,
Thanks and I hope it does too, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm not the only person who made and offer and although he is considering my latest offer, there has been another he is currently considering. We'll see how it goes. Otherwise, until I hear something, I'm still looking so if you know anyone................lol Have a good evening!! Pete Last edited by pdoukas; 27 July 2011 at 02:35 PM.. Reason: sp? |
