URGENT: Sub-C seized 7/22/11- Need advice

Fed-Ex delivered my 116333 last Friday. As soon as take the Sub-C I've been wearing 24/7 this whole year off my wrist, my significant other seizes my Submariner and puts it on her wrist! ....before I even had a chance to size the DJII bracelet. Now it is on her wrist 24/7 and I have not an opportunity to take it back.

I like to wear my watch in my sleep/shower/etc. and I've always planned to wear the Sub-C around the house and what not. I have kids and a dog and wearing a gold watch with PCL is not a good idea.... I've been looking at getting another watch to replace the Sub but she is getting mad and I have strict orders to not make a new purchase.

She likes the Chanel J12 white ceramic so I showed her a Fossil knock off and offered to buy it as a gift for her... shes not having any of that lol. I am watchless around the house and this is no good! And being used to a Sub-C, I cannot downgrade to a GShock or what not.

Options:

1. Screw the consequences and get a Speedmaster Pro. It's her fault that I have to buy another watch!

2. Buy her a used Sub no date or something and reclaim the Sub-C.

3. Wait till she takes off the Sub-C and steal it back... and start a big fight.

4. Buy a homage or Seiko and be disappointed every time I check the time.

5. Go without a everyday watch and be depressed and naked!

6. ????

I am not a rich man and options 1 and 2 are not appealing. Option 3 is very high risk but very high reward. 4 makes me sad inside every time I consider it. 5 is unacceptable. All advice will be considered as this matter has been unresolved, 6 days and counting.

P.S. It's all in good fun... I have a wonderful family, job and home. I am a blessed man with a new watch I really like.

Let her keep the Sub-C if that's what she love! It's an investment in more ways than one!

Haha yeah you are definitely right. I'm leaning towards a high quality seiko for <$500. If I can find a high build quality one with proper asethics it might be the best compromise. The speedy pro is most logical to me though... But not to her!

Wearing the djii 24/7 is not an option. It has no Lume so it is not very useful at night especially in bed. I have no problems letting her use the sub.. Quite happy actually. But I should be able to buy myself a speedy pro or an equal substitute. :)

I think this is your answer, bro. If I was in your situation I would let her keep the watch. The fact that you're even consider letting her keep your baby shows you're really nice guy.

However, since you are such a nice guy, you deserve to have something nice on your wrist. Buy your speedy - Or perhaps save up and buy another SubC? I know it's expensive, but winning the award for husband of the year aint cheap I'm saving up for my first Rolex (GMTIIC) and my wife has really taken a liking to the EXPII. I may need to save even longer and buy her the watch because I fear may end up in your situation!

Best of luck, I really enjoyed your post.

Buy a Seiko for now and save for another Sub C, possibly the green one...that way you can swap watches with her and everyone's happy...

What makes it doubly difficult is I think the subc is the perfect every day watch. I wore it for everything including working on my car and Doing yardwork. Eventually I plan on giving it to my son when he became of age.

I'll get it back sooner or later but I need a solution for right now. Rolex has spoiled me and it's really tough to wear another brand... I know you guys can relate. :)

I do think your best option is to buy your wife a suitable submariner. IMHO, the 16610 or the 14060M would be a better option for her to wear since it has slimmer lugs and therefore appears a bit smaller/slimmer on the wrist.

Good luck with your "problem"

Umm.... The option 4....?!?
You'd rather get a homage than wearing a G Shock?!?

does she like handbags or shoes? offer her something fancy as a trade. probably cheaper than a new watch for you (though a speedy pro is a fine choice), and i bet she'll stop wearing the subc once the joke has run its course.

I am lucky in the fact that my wife is not a watch person and does not wear one. She did say though that if she did wear one a Rolex would be very nice, oh dear !

Tell her it really looks nice on her but it makes her hips look a little large. You'll get the watch back in no time'

You are in a great position. You missed Option 6. Lots of guilt. Take every opportunity to remind your wife how great a guy you are to let her enjoy the pleasures of a Rolex at no expense to her. Tell how much you loved that watch and only because you love and respect her so much that you take pleasure in her wearing the watch. Expand on this theme daily. Then as Christmas, Fathers Day or your birthday drop subtle hints about your grail and how much it would mean to you to have it, even if you miss a few lousy payments on the mortgage. Subtle hints like writing them in permanent marker on her makeup mirror or having the Goodyear Blimp tow a banner in front of your house. That will get er dane! LOL
