Need advice for potential Tudor sub purchase...
Ok there is a nice tudor sub for sale locally. I am intrigued ...but I know little about these watches so would need some help/advice...
The watch is the one pictured and comes with all boxes/papers, tags, anchor etc...It comes with 2 original Tudor bracelets and is a one owner watch bought new in 2000. It was serviced once by a reputable local watchmaker Now onto some questions: 1) What is the correct model no. for the watch please? 2) I really hate the shiny bezel insert. Is it hard to find a replacement black one? What would the cost be? 3)Is this watch somewhat rare/sought after (Easy to move it on if I do not like it..)? 4) What is a fair price to pay for the watch? I sincerely thank you in advance for any advice ! |

1) Did the seller provide a reference number? It should be 79190.
2)You should be able to source a black bezel from an AD. Although the silver insert looks great and it's nice to have options. 3)Rare? Well, not made in huge numbers but I wouldn't say rare. 4)My guess is that $2K to $2.5K US would be the range. Tell us how it turns out. Best of luck, dP

Great watch and a full kit also!
If the price is in the ballpark that Dan mentions above, it's a win/win all the way. The prices on the Tudors are always going up. good luck Dave |

Thanks for your replies!
The owner wants approx. 2600 USD. I will try to haggle down a bit. It comes with both jubilee and oyster. I believe the oyster is the correct one for the model right....? I might see it in person today or tomorrow... Some last questions... - It should have matte dial correct? - It should have no lume (I think tritium has since lost it's a 2000 model) right? - Does it have the exact same case as a 16610 (i had one of those so know what to look for) or is it somewhat different? - Triplock crown? - Engraved caseback? - Any markings between lugs? Thanks ! |

It looks great. I hope you can work out a satisfactory deal for both you and the seller.

Regarding the bezel insert, the black should be fairly easy to find. However, I've looked in the past for a blue replacement bezel insert without much success. In any case, should you not like the watch, it should be easy to sell here on TRF.

Knowing your love of bigger watches, you may find it rather small.
Since it is in good condition and with B&P, 2000 € would be a bargain. |

The extra bracelet adds some value to the package. I think the asking price is probably pretty good considering the excellent condition of the watch and the two bracelets. It rarely hurts to haggle a bit on the price, but I wouldn't risk losing the deal if the seller doesn't want to budge.

Thank you Dan! Appreciate the kind words! I always look forward to your photos (on WRUW or other posts). Currently on my mind is your awesome Pepsi GMT on jubilee, partly due to the 'I blame Dan Pierce' post!

I have seen the watch! It is definitely a beauty and the case still has very nice edges and brushing that to me looks Rolex finish (not polished)...however there are 2 things which I am not sure of...
1- The bracelet has a divers extension ala 14060M AND folded links on the outside too....is this correct for the watch? 2- The crown is not a triplock . It is a ROLEX twinlock crown (with the single line underneath the coronet). This is not correct right? 3 - The dial has chrome surrounds on the hour plots. I have not seen this for 79190. Is this correct? Apart from that the watch comes 100% complete with everything. Thanks for advice! |

1- That bracelet is correct.
2- Should be a Tudor triplock. 3- The dial surrounds are correct. dP |

Thanks Dan! Would a correct Tudor triplock crown be too difficult to source? Would it fit the thread on the watch (i.e. can I only change the crown) or does the stem in the case need to be replaced too?
Should I just walk away ? Thanks! |

The service history, if known, might reveal all. Good luck, dP
