Icon10 A few new shots of the 6152-1....

It is not easy to capture the rich colors in this 60 year old dial. One almost has to see in person to appreciate but here goes my feeble attempt! Have a great Saturday all!!

Great looking watch Ken.

What portion of the watch was made by Rolex by the way? Was it just the movement or did Rolex actually do more of the work on these watches?

Panerai engineers designed the watches for the *Italian Navy and ordered them from Rolex. Rolex made the watch- the case, movement, crown and dials made for Rolex to deliver to Panerai. As of 2009 when Volker Wiegmann and Ralf Ehlers wrote their book Vintage Panerai - there were only 8 models without crown guard and only 2 documented with Radiomir dial in this configuration(Pages 217-219). A lot of great info. on the history in the book and on Vintage Panerai Forum.

PS--Thanks guys!!!!

* Italian Helmet Divers S.M.Z., Combat Swimmers M.M., Italian Divers G.F., Caribinieri C.C. as well as civil divers from fire brigade V.F.

I see you're practicing with the camera Ken... Looks great and it definitely beats any modern Panerai.

Gorgeous Panerai! Looks like a real beauty! Watches look so much better in person than in photos!

Absolutely amazing Ken! Your watch collection and picture quality just keep getting better and better. One day a pic of your 1680 red, DRSD and 6152-1 in one shot might statisfy even the craziest of chocoholics.

Thanks again for sharing, most of your watches are examples we have never seen of will ever see in person and I know all of us appreciate and enjoy your threads.

Ken, when I saw this on the regular Rolex Forum WRUW today, my jaw dropped at that stunning shot! I come to the Vintage forum and see more photos. So beautiful! This is something that really needs to be seen in person, but for now, your photos do a wonderful job capturing the beauty of this timepiece. Thank you for sharing. Absolutely love the Panerai with Rolex movement inside!
