New Rolex Air King Date!
Hey guys,
So I purchased a 5700N Rolex Air King Date today and I have a few questions... 1) When buying the watch it came with the Oyster Band and tho the oyster band is nice sadly I like the Jubilee much better... So my question is... Why when I asked the lady at the sales booth to put on a Jubilee band she said she couldn't do that because Rolex doesn't allow people to change the band because it takes away from the original design and that is illegal? Sounds silly to me if the watch is real and so is the Jubilee band?????? 2) If I do go to a private guy and have him switch the band for me if ever I send my watch into rolex do you suggest I take the band off and just send the watch in one its own for servicing? and is the really illegal? 3) Is the Rolex Air King Date really a watch that is collectable? The person at the shop said that the Rolex Air King Date was only distributed to the Commonwealth countries and not many of them were made, so basically my watch would never lose its value... I paid $1800 for the watch and its in beautiful condition... did I get a good deal? thanks! Ron |

I definitely do not think it is illegal. That would also make putting a Rolex on any other non Rolex band illegal and you see that all the time on this forum. Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Go somewhere else, they will change your bracelet.

All you have to do is pick up the bracelet you want and install it, keep the other one if the Air King needs service in the future.

Of course it's illegal, and if you are caught, the authorities will come down on you very hard.
It's not just Rolex, either. If the police catch you with any non-original strap or fastening on any watch, you are facing a long stretch in prison. Be warned. |

You all don't think the Air King wears too small on a mans wrist? I could handle a 36mm DJ, but I thought a 34mm might be pushing it. Hmmm

Congrats.
1. & 2. Sure, you can remove it. It's not illegal, but against Rolex USA brand standards. Therefore Rolex USA or an AD will not sell you a watch part which does not belong with your model. 3. You can collect anything. However, if you are asking if the watch is rare and will be worth $$$. No. A little late to be asking if you got a good deal. Enjoy. That is a low price for a Rolex. |

I think I did some research and it is illegal, however, I dont really give a damn as both the products I know are legal rolex products. I will keep both bracelets if I need servicing I will strap on the original Oyster. Yes, this is m first Rolex... im 23 now... I've got time before im playing with the big boys. I think this is a great watch for my first! Cant stop smiling when I look down. Thank you all for your help!
I dont know if the watch will be worth anymore money than I paid for it, but as long as it holds its value Im all good with that! Plus, I got an amazing deal! I compared them to online prices and its 50% off what most dealers are selling them for... |

Congrats on your Air King - lots of history behind that model.
As for the bracelet, put on whatever you want and if the watch needs service, send just the head in. |

Is an Air King a "collectible"?
Sorry to burst you bubble - But, it is one of the slowest selling Rolexs.
