Somebody stop me
Hi I am thinking about my next watch and this one will be a daily do everything watch, so it needs to be durable. The watch I was looking at was a Sub No Date, however while at the mall today had a chance to see a Breitling Superocean II divers watch. While not as attractive as a Sub No date it was a good looking watch. It also appears to be a very sturdy watch. The kicker is I could probably get this new for about $3,300. Need some advice which would you buy for a beater and why. My other watches are a White Face SS Daytona and a Rosegold Datejust.
Thank you |

I was split between a Navitimer Gmt and the 14060M....
I love my ND 14060M! Im glad I got this classic baby as my beater! 1. Its a work horse! You can get it serviced pretty much anywhere in the world and get parts anywhere in the world. 2. Resale vaule is one of the highest of any watch brand/model and everyone knows what a Rolex suby is, so you can flip it anywhere in the world if you need some emergency cash. 3. They just look freaking COOL! I can go on and on! But, 1-2-3 was good enough for me! |

If you are looking for a daily beater, my vote goes to 14060M. Nothing wrong with the Breitling Superocean II, but it's likely to be a scratch magnet because of the way it's polished.
Just my 2 cents. |

If you are looking for durability there is nothing better than a Rolex.

I won't try to stop you, the SO is probably the better watch out of the two choices.

The SO is a nice watch
It would give some good diversity to your collection.
I'd still have to go with the classic Sub though.. |

SO all the way. It's a great watch and it's really not much of a scratch magnet. I own several B's and they don't attract as many scratches as you would think. However, I don't wear them on bracelets, isofrane or B rubber is the norm for me.

The SubND has my vote but wouldn't use it as a 'beater' watch. I'd get a G-Shock instead.
Good luck! |

What exactly do you plan on doing that you need a "beater" watch? Let's face it, most of us watch nerds on these forums consider cutting the grass and washing the car jobs for a beater watch. If that is the toughest thing you are going to do, then either Rolex you own now will be fine. If you plan on operating a jackhammer then get a G Shock.

Can't you get a used Breitling for under $1000?
