nikon 105mm F2.8 G AF-S VR

Seems to be a nice lens so far but I'm not much of a photographer. Played around most of the afternoon with it. I'll post some more pictures later after I run them through photoshop.

I like to use B&H Photo (bhphotovideo.com) and Beach Camera (beachcamera.com). Both places have good prices and ship quickly.

Cool, thanks for the link. We just got our Sony HC7 HDV cam from B&H and I was very impressed. Even had to go through their service department to return / exchange an extra lens for that camera and they were great to deal with...

I have the same set-up and the 105mm f/2.8 VR is a great lens. Turn off the VR, throw it on a tripod, close the lens down and you'll really see what the lens can do.

My only complaint is that it's a little long for table work.

B&H also gets most of my business, although I picked up my 105mm from Berger Brothers for a good deal when it first came out.

Very nice photos Mennald, the Nikon VR is a top quality lens, worth a lot of money. So I would expect results of a high standard.
I like the subject matter too and that always helps

Looks like you are off to a good start.

Keep in mind that at that close of a range, depth of field is very shallow.
If you want to get the whole watch in focus, try shooting at F16 or maybe even higher. Your shutter will have to be open for as much as 6 seconds, but you will like what you see.

Keep at it. It is looking good.

Most of the scratches so far are on the clasp and the links in that area (nothing major just hairline scratches). Give me some time, I've only had it a couple of weeks. Soon enough, I'll have it scratched up nicely.
