Arrrrghhhhh..... I got the call yesterday telling me that a White Dial SS Daytona had come in for me. I went to the AD today to pick it up but for whatever reason I decided not to pull the trigger

.

But now i'm thinking i should of just done the deal. I can't quite put my finger on why I didn't go for it. Maybe the white dial looked a bit too feminine for me or there was some inner feeling that the SS version was simply no longer worth the £7,490 asking price...I had a TT Daytona on at the time so maybe i just felt a bit underwhelmed by the SS version in the flesh. i dunno but now I'm having major regrets and the watch has been sold to someone else.

Anyone else felt the same? I'm still on several other lists so maybe i'll feel differently when I get the next call.

no worries.

i pulled the trigger and sold in 3 months (white dial), never looked back.

scratches too easy (all that polished stuff)/ hard to read/ virtually useless chronograph function.

just my opinion, thought the white would grow on me... never did.

I have a rule in shopping, "when in doubt, don't." I never pull the trigger especially on pricey and nonreturnable items if I have doubts. Give it some time, I'm sure you'll figure out if you want an SS Daytona or not. And there will always be another SS Daytona if you do.

Don't lose sleep over it. I was in the same situation, I pulled the trigger and got a white face SS Daytona. While I really love my watch, in retrospsect, I would have gotten something else just as nice.

Don't fall into the hype. It's just a watch after all.

As a very happy owner of a White Daytona I can offer some comments albeit from an impassioned perspective.

They are much more available now than they have been and another opportunity will certainly be there should you decide to go forward.

They are hard to read, especially the black. The chrono function is something that typically one would not use but is certainly nice to have. Most things that most of us might need to time can be times with a rotating bezel.

It fits much better inder the cuff of a dress shirt than the GMTs or Subs, like an Explorer int hat regard.

No date was thought to be an issue before I got it but not as much of an issue anymore -though I do still miss a date.

Just my two-cents as a daytona owner and fan.

i love the Daytona... £7490 is a lot of cash though... you can always pick one up for slightly less if you change your mind..

I also wanted a SS Daytona. meanwhile, I picked up a pre-owned TT Zenith Daytona because it was a fair deal and nice, thinking I'd pick up a new SS one sometime later. But right now, the SS doesn't sing to me anymore. I guess the hype wore out on me.

Now eyeing nice WG versions...

Another SS will come along if you really want it. They're still in production anyway.

There is always a chance of buyers remorse or non-buying regrets. Don't worry about it.

The Daytona will always be there, you can always picked it up another time. I've had both the Zenith and new version before I realized it is not a watch for me.

So if it didn't sing to you in person, don't sweat it, move on.

Exactly! I can't quite put my finger on why i didn't go for it. At the time it just didn't bowl me over the way the TT Daytona did last year. Kinda looked a little too plain but maybe that's it's charm

I have bought a couple of watches since the jonesing for an SS Daytona began.

I have a Speedy Pro I love (at < 1/3 the price of a Daytona) ...and rarely use the Speedy's much more accessible Chrono function.

Am I happy I have more to choose from Vs. one VERY EXPENSIVE SS Watch?

No regrets my friend! Its like a multiple choice question, if you don't go with your initial selection you may be over-thinking the issue. If you didn't like it when you saw it, you are most likely right.

I'm still amazed that my AD even calls me when one comes in. Three times, THREE times they have called me and all three times I said no.

I've regretted it each time because if I would have bought the first time I would have paid just a bit over 9k not it's up to $11,500...

It's all about timing...the time was not right.

I agree the Daytona is hard to read. That is why I don't care for the Daytona.

I had a black dialed version that I loved, except for the black dial. When i'm able to afford another one I would get a white dial OR source a WG only dial (Slate or panda) and make it a Franken watch.

I have one, and I have no regrets. However sounds like you had doubts, so for you it sounds like you did the right thing.

If you tend to have doubts about any large purchase you make, how often were you happy with the purchase after you made it? See, some people always have buyers remorse after buying something expensive, every time but in most cases they end up happy they bought.
I have had buyers remorse for almost all of my Rolex purchases only to love them after the fact. I, too, have a Black dial V SS Daytona and I love it. Also have a TT so I get a contrast.
If you really end up regretting it, I am sure you will pull the trigger someday. No sweat it!

Nimrod, I agree on every point. I love my Daytona but it IS hard to read and I DO miss the date. That's why I will check out the new EXII as soon as it's available.
