New and why I am here...
Well, I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and thought I should say hi to everyone. I'm a little 'ways out from getting my first Rolex but came here to learn. In my short time on the board I have learned a lot and something new each time I come. I've always loved watches, but it's only been in the last three or four years that I really started to care about the inside and completely lost interest in just about any watch with a battery.
I decided on this forum as it seems to be the best and most friendly, not to mention the most informative, and classy. It's also in the same format as my fav shotgun forum so I like that too. I have really enjoyed reading your posts and appreciate the information gleened so far. The FAQ sticky post is great for newbies BTW so hats off for that as well. I look forward to chatting on here and hope you all dont mind all the questions I have. The first I would like to pose to you all is what are your biggest do's/dont's on purchasing a new Rollie? I would appreciate any and all feedback. Take care all and thanks, Patrick |

Well if you have little knowledge in the Rolex world, then my advise buy only from a AD.Now even at a authorised dealer don't be afraid to ask many questions try watches on etc.And even ask for a discount the grey market if you buy from this source you will not get the Rolex warranty. Now IMO thats not all that important as most grey dealers offer there own warranty.Myself would only buy from grey market,if they had a bricks motor store.Avoid places
like Ebay although there are some very trusted sellers there. But places like that you buy the seller do your home work on him etc before you part with cash. Now most watch forums you will get good deals, but again do your home work on seller dont be afraid to ask questions. But for a first buyer I would strongly recommend the AD route. Ps Welcome TRF Patrick.

Hello Patrick and welcome to TRF. I'm with Padi, I'd go the AD route if possible.

Welcome to TRF, Patrick.
This is a great place with a wealth of information and some wonderful members. In your case, my best advice is to walk through the hallowed portals of an Authorised Rolex Dealer and make your FIRST purchase. At least, you'll always be 100% sure you've got the real McCoy on your wrist! Cheers - JJ

You kind of double-threaded, Patrick, so my welcoming to you is in the main Rolex forum

Let me add my welcome to TRF, Patrick. We're glad you decided to stop lurking and dive into the swim of things (to sort of mix some metaphors).
Don't worry about questions. We try to answer all questions here. Sometimes you will even get a serious answer, but don't be surprised if even a serious thread gets hijacked. It's a tradition around these parts. But don't worry, your questions will all be answered. And remember the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. So join the fun and keep on posting.
