Out of interest, is this variant less expensive than the all-gold version 116518?

Should be, there's about 25g of 18ct bezel removed from the watch.

I think this one is £18.4k. The all gold bracelet model is £23k approx.

c£15k for a comparable gold bezel/strap daytona.

£15,700 for the all gold 116518 and £18,400 for the mainly gold but not really 116518c.

Someone pinch me.

In Sweden.

All strap model Daytonas.
116518 YG 179,800SEK = 28,400USD
116519 WG 193,400SEK = 30,500USD
116515 RGc 210,000SEK = 33,200USD

When I say all gold, I of course mean the watch head. Same with not quite all gold when they substitute the gold bezel for a ceramic one and charge nearly £3,000 for the pleasure of removing 20g of gold from the watch.

But Paul ceramic is the finest thing since sliced bread so Rolex tells us, and surely worth more that 20g of 18Kt gold.

Yep. Good ol' Rolex logic strikes again. Strange how they justify this kinda stuff.

Take the logic to the extreme and an all-ceramic / strap version would be £25,000.

I paid £5,950 for my 116518 back in late 2007. Seemed like the right price for the watch.

Nowdays, not so much.

Saw one at Wempe on Friday here in NYC, can't say I am a big fan of the chocolate/black bezel - it doesn't look quite right against the rose gold. Just my .02.

I don't think the combo works at all. The dials don't look right with the all black bezel. Also with no outer rim wouldn't the ceramic be more prone to shattering due to side on prangs than the sub?

Saw this daytona ceramic bezel earlier today. Not really that impressed with it when I tried it on, still too small and the ceramic bezel doesn't work well with this design of watch. Like someone already mentioned, one good knock on the ceramic might do damage with nothing to protect it like on the ss sports models...! Rolex need to forget about a ceramic bezel for the daytona and just enlarge the case, there are better chrono's about for this kind of money...!

There was two new Omega PO Ceramics in the same shop window also, not that impressive either at £3650. The liquid metal bezel and dial was far more impressive than these new Omega Ceramic offerings...
