Put me on the Spot
I'll try to keep it short. Had to pop by the Jewelry Store to got some earrings looked at that I had recently bought my girlfriend for her birthday (issue with the backing). As she was trying on some others, I excused myself an walked over to the rolex counter where their were two gentleman trying on Rolex's, father and son. I notice the father was wear a 40 year old GMT. As it turns out that father Hal, was buying the son Mat, a new watch, as his was stolen in a robbery. Hal quickly noticed my GMTII. And asked me some standard questions about it, how old, etc. Well it turns out his sons watch that was stolen was a f serial GMT II. Mat did not like any of the new models, so dad asked me if I wanted to sell my watch. I must admit I was surprised. I said I was looking for something starting with a 5, ( I was fishing to see what he would say, didn't believe him at first.) He turned to me with his hand out and said $4700 cash, is it a deal? I didn't quite know what to say. In the end we exchanged numbers, as I said I had to think about it.
When they left, I talked to the store salesman to see what I could possibly get if I sold it, but neither me or my gf liked the alternatives. (New GMT II or NEW SUB). Happy with my F serial GMT II, as it turns out, AD gets a few calls every week asking for a new coke/pepsi GMTII. Guess there still in demand. |
